David,So glad you enjoyed your visit to the museum. The hotel key box is very cool. Recently descendants of the former owners, the Greens, came in with a hotel scrapbook and allowed us to scan the photos. If you would like to see more about the old hotel, see the Fall-Winter 2014 newsletter at our website: flaglerbeachmuseum.com. Thanks for sharing your experience!
This place is small and easy to handle in less than 30 minutes. The photos are great and they help bring the history of this cute town to life.
Do not miss stopping here. You will learn the history of Flagler and the area. While small it is extremely interesting and the volunteers that work there can provide much of the history.
We found this museum, manned by Volunteers, tucked away among the small shops and informational spots. It's not a huge building. It won't keep you for hours... Unless you want to. History is always cool and it's a little break from the hot beach, 5 minute walk down the street.
Thanks for your positive review about our museum, especially about 'the ladies" who hosted your visit. Our docent hosts are all volunteers who love to meet and greet our visitors. They are always ready to give a full tour or just answer questions, depending on the desires of the guests. Thanks again for the review, and come see us again!
This museum is very small as its only about Flagler Beach, its history and surrounding areas but it has a lot to see and enjoy. We were there for at least an hour and there are tons of pictures, newspaper clippings, and items relating to Flagler beach, a must see if you are in the area:)
Great photos and displays and people there to explain what your are looking at and talk about the history of the area.
I have been to the historical museum on many occasions and am always pleased to return again. The museum is a great hit with our out-of-town guests, who are constantly surprised with the amount of local history that has been documented and the care of it's presentation. The wall of historical photographs is a favorite for the adults but the kids all love the dinosaur bones. The docents are always very friendly and knowledgeable. Our groups are always greeted promptly and we never fail to learn something new on our most recent tour. I would highly recommend a visit to the museum for the entire family. Even my teenage son enjoys the it! Though the museum is small, you can spend quite a bit of time looking and learning about Flagler Beach. It's a real gem!
Volunteers here were very nice and informative. She gave some detailed history of the City of Flagler and surrounding area and encouraged us to look around. They say a picture is worth a thousand words and there were many historical pictures that were nice to look at. Nice collection.
What a great little gem in Flagler Beach! The volunteers are knowledgeable, the artifacts are neat, and the historic pictures out the area are way cool! My boys love looking at the giant Mastodon teeth! This is a must-visit place when you are in Flagler Beach.
