Even though I've driven past here many times I thought it was time to stop in and take a look around, and I was surprised with what I learned about Stuart. The Staff is very helpful and can answer just about any question you can come up with about Stuart.
We found the museum by accident online and we're very surprised by what we found. A great history of Stuart and Martin County going back to the late 1800's. A lot to see and you get a real feel for what life was like before the area grew to what it is now.I thoroughly recommend this for all ages!
We were in town for a very short time. Even though our friends urged us to go to a larger local museum, my husband had seen an advertisement for this museum this is where he wanted to go. The little building is packed with pictures and artifacts. Even a brief walk-through would be beneficial in learning more about Stuart, but we were lucky to have a guide who was born and raised in Stuart. She told very interesting stories and made it all come together real well. It's definitely worth the time to visit. We knew more about the area and its history after visiting this museum and that made us want to learn more about Martin County.
I had been wanting to come here for a long time, but never took the time; I'm glad I finally did. What a nice museum dedicated to Stuart. It is great to see the history of our little town. The staff couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. I spent a long time reading every little thing. I would give your self at least an hour if you really like to read what your seeing.
Take the time to learn about Stuart, one of the Best local Museums I have visited. Great Gal at the front desk.
It was like going back in time to see all the familiar relics from the past. The host was very knowledgeable and I learned quite a bit of Stuart history.
I enjoyed seeing many antique items- do not miss the lower level.Great collection of old maps and photos. Some antiques from the local area and displays highlighting early Stuart life.
A trip back in time for those interested in START history. Small fee involved. Person who greeted us was nice. Pleasant place - good idea for older children (no small ones) Lots of stuff to look at!
There is so much to see, whether you choose self-guided or with the help of friendly staff. It was great to see how much has changed around town and how some things haven't really changed that much! The location is perfect, you can have a stroll in downtown Stuart and have lunch!
This little museum does a great job of showing the history of Stuart and Martin County. It is chock full of artifacts that were all donated by local residents. We were lucky enough to have a guide, who knew many of the stories behind the exhibits. If you have a group, a similar personalized tour can be arranged by calling them. As a bonus, their is a free trolley that can take you anywhere in downtown Stuart. The museum is free, but donations are appreciated.
