Great - What a great piece of engineering - Watched the boats going up and down the locks and had a Pint by the Canal - BEAT THAT!!
Lots to do and see. Good walking. A couple of good pubs at the bottom Lock. A reasonable little museum run by volunteers. Fascinating historical insight. A couple more good pubs in the village itself.
This is just a nice walk in pretty surroundings and even better on a nice sunny day. The locks are all well maintained and well worth a look. Be careful if you have young children with you. Keep them away from the edge of the canal. You can get a nice coffee and cake if you wish along the route. It can get quite busy at the weekend too, so if you want to chill try going in the week when it is much quieter.
Nice place to chill out cos I haven't got to drive anywhere. See dave behind the bar he's sorted lol
Very interesting location and fascinating to see so many locks up a step hill in such a short distance.
A lovely day out for the family, couples or even if you are on your own. Nice pub if you have completed a long bike ride or walk. Very much recommended visit of historic interest !
Well worth the visit. Parked in the Long Term part and it was a pleasant walk to the top of the locks and then you can follow the locks down. On the way back up we explored the area where they had a boat lift which I found interesting. Worth a visit.
A good place to visit on a nice day. Seeing the barges negotiate the numerous locks and the gradients are a challenge in itself. Not for those who don't like walking up hill though ! A couple of pubs and pub grub available
It was very cold and the water had iced up so the noise of the cracking ice was very surreal. Good place to walk.
An incredible piece of Victorian engineering, beautiful setting and good food and drink to be had. The on site museum is small but really interesting and shows the existing and lost history of the site. Busy with Narrow boats going both up and down the lock stairway, also boat trips available during the summer months.
