Our tour guide was personable and knowledgeble. Her passion for the state and its history definitely cam across.
We did the self-guided tour which provided enough information for us. They close at 4 pm. Lots of beautiful marble and interesting little facts to watch for.
Excellent opportunity to visit a government building. Easy, free parking on site. Beautiful inside and outside. Very polite, welcoming staff from security to visitor center employees. Truly a pleasure to visit. Statues of Abraham Lincoln, Jefferson Davis and Henry Clay among other famous Kentuckians. Won't take a long time, but definitely worth a quick look. Outside gardens feature a floral clock and some fountains.
The Frankfort state Capitol is a marvel of construction. The kids enjoy the stairs, rotunda, doll collection and statues. The space, materials and details are pretty spectacular. My grandmother has been to many many state capitols and still ranks Frankfort at or near the top. It's worth a stop inside. Don't miss the floral clock and grounds. Tulips in April are gorgeous too.
This may have been the quickest tour I have ever taken of a Capitol. To me it just seemed like a big concrete building. The grounds look nice, but up close it looked like nothing had been landscaped or manicured for some time. Nothing really stuck out for me, not much reading. I'm sure it would have been better if we had a tour guide that could comment some of the history. We actually went to the Governor's Mansion first, only two of us. We went through both, the mansion and capitol, in 51 minutes. The best view is when we went to the grave site of Daniel Boone. Very nice view of the capitol.
Have been in the capital builing many time, always see something different everytime I visit. Christmas time is a wonderful time to visit. Many statues and art work grace the interior of the building. Beautiful staircases and dome.
I like visiting state capitol buildings and I was within a short drive of Frankfort so I decided to visit. What a beautiful building! And, so visitor friendly. Everything was open for anyone to see. I felt completely comfortable walking around the building as everyone was friendly and helpful. Certainly worth seeing!
Be sure to visit the scenic outlook for some great pictures with the dome in the background. The floral clock is pretty to see on the grounds of the capitol building. There are a lot of great photo opportunities and the landscaping is very well maintained.
I've visited most of the State Capitol's throughout the US but this is the first one I've seen that's in a residential neighborhood. But, like most, a very beautiful building.
A really interesting tour through the building. You get to see the chambers as well as the individual desks. There are lovely statues in the centre.
