Stonebriar Community Church is A Bible based church. We have been going for six months. Since it is a mega church with Chuck Swindall as pastor, you need to be involved with a small group and a Sunday morning bible class. Great church to visit or be a member. Music is awesome!!!
This place was very welcoming as a new visitor. I have learned so much from Chuck Swindoll's messages and teachings as well as his Insight for Living ministry on 90.9 KCBI. He is truly a blessing to have here in Frisco, TX! I have grown in my Christian faith and walk with Christ as a result of attending this church and getting further into His word. The full orchestra and music is always wonderful and my family and I have found our church home at Stonebriar Community Church. We have a 4 year old and love the children's ministry program.
If you like Insight for Living or Chuck Swindoll, you will like this church. We attended a few services, and even joined a lifegroup, but found a different local church with a stronger youth emphasis. Very strict like Southern Baptist. Chuck is long winded, sermon itself is over an hour, and church runs closer to 1 1/2 to 2 hours. If you want a traditional service and can handle a pastor who is a good teacher, but preaches an entire hour, this might be your church? I do not see them very active in social events like our current church is.
We went here for their Sacred Song event. Beautiful presentation. The church has their own orchestra band and choir group. We'll come back to hear Chuck Swindoll preach.
My son and I, down from NC for a football game, decided to attend church here. Everyone was very welcoming, and several people spoke with us before and after the service, I appreciated that Pastor Swindoll was involved in several parts of the service, delivering the announcements, delivering the mid service prayer, and leading an exposition of a passage in 2nd Peter. We were also able to meet him and speak with him after the service. There was plenty of parking and we had no trouble getting in or out of the parking lots. The church gave the opportunity to leave prayer requests ((which I did) and they followed up with me by letter after the service. We would certainly go back if in the area.
I enjoyed the music and the hymn singing, but Chuck Swindall wasn't there. He apparently goes on a sabbatical during the summer. I really wish I'd have known before I went. The guest speaker was okay, but he told a lot of personal stories with which I could not identify. If I was voting based entirely on the service without the speaker I would have given it an above average vote.
Chuck Swindoll is the most gifted expositor in the USA today...period. I am blessed every Sunday to learn from this inspired man of God. He will bless you richly.
Chuck Swindoll is the master, and has created a church that is simple of straight-forward in his message.
Stonebriar Church is a genuine, Bible believing church. It does not have gimmicks to bring you in so if you want to watch muscle men tear phone books in half this is not the church for you. It's very traditional and they sing from hymnals. Chuck Swindoll delivers a great message that I take with me all week long. It is a peaceful, calming and perfect way to start my busy week.
We've been going to SCC for a year. Before you walk in the door you feel welcome. Every door has a greeter who is smiling and you feel they are truly glad that you are there. Music is out of this world. Besides a fantastic 200 voice choir, most Sundays you will have a full orchestra leading worship. Pastor Chuck Swindol is truly inspirational, teaching to God's word.
