How could a "piece of stone" be used on so variable ways? Clothes, music instrument, avarage houshold objects (e.g.cup) besides amazing jewelleries... I was really surprised, how many ways artists and creators could use amber, and how fine artworks they are able to create. Part of the descriptions are only available in polish, but most of it is available in english, as well. An interactive computer presents many geographical and chemical information in several languages, as well, really informative.
This has some beautiful artefacts inside it and I thought it was well set out. be prepared for lots, and lots of stairs though!
This is a small but very interesting museum about the history of Amber. There are some nice examples of amber with fossils inside and there are some interactive displays as well. The entrance fee is very minimal so if you have half an hour to an hour, its well worth a look. As others have noted, there are lots of stairs so not suitable for anyone with mobility problems.
Rien d'exceptionnel. On as mis 20 min pour visiter.
Excellent and interesting museum; the reviews here speak for themselves. Amber was extremely important to Gdansk and is still one of the most sought-after souvenirs to take from the city. It would do that person well to learn something about that beautiful rock coined 'Baltic Gold' and be able to explain it to friends back home.
A small location for several floors of exhibits. The first floor is more scientific with multiple samples and some pieces under microscope with insects and even a small lizard preserved inside. The upper floors have pieces of jewelery and art pieces showing the multiple ways amber has been and continues to be used. Fascinating examples of art!
Myself and my husband passed this today and decided to go in and at we paid 10 zloty each to get in so about 4 pounds in totalIt's bigger than you think from the outside and shows you all the amber fossils with bugs inside then it shows you the prisons and the canonsWe probably spent about half hour in there and there is a toilet insideThere are a few steep steps so not good for anyone with mobility issues
