Foodie paradise! I could spend hours here just wondering from stall to stall. From spices to charcuterie and coffee to champagne it is a great place to spend a couple of hours.
I come here every time I'm downtown. One of the best places in columbus. Always at the meat and the fish counters. Beer and wine are excellent. I bought quail duck rabbit bison meat. I've also bought swordfish sea bass orange roughy squid and octopus tuna lobster crab and their crab cakes salmon cakes and sauces. And I tried different beer and wine every time. Been going there over 25 years gets better every year.
I found my way to the North Market in Columbus, Ohio today for lunch. The variety of ethnic and unique foods was terrific. Greek, Jewish, Italian, Asian, Bubble Tea, fresh floral and vegetables. There was something to satisfy everyone's pallet. Beautiful deserts, unique cheeses and fresh butcher meats. Also a fresh fish market. I would recommend. I tried a pretzel stick. It was a bargain for $1.00. Nice downtown location with plenty of parking.
North Market is a great eatery and shopping hub, without the hub-bub...Food vendors offer ethnic flavors as you circle the indoor portion, from Morrocan, to Polish, to Italian, and Brats! Not to mention the homemade soft pretzels, cinnamon waffles, and numerous other choices. Seating upstairs overlooks vendors. A very friendly place, not to mention the fresh fruits, veges and flowers for sale out front. I've visited North Market twice. First time walking from the Hyatt in the Fall (easy walk). The second time from Goodale Park, summertime, a longer but still easy walk.
Oh my goodness, from the food to the spices, breads, and desserts, this place is awesome. I can compare it to Pike Market in Seattle and the market in Vancouver, except that it is smaller. I lamb curry from the Taste of India, it was authentic. Everything everyone ate said their food was really good. I love places like this and only wish we had it in Tampa, FL. I also had my eye on the Polish Counter where the cabbage rolls and perogies looked so good.....that's for next time.
This place will please every taste. From India, Italian, Polish, Asian, you name it. The food is all incredible and great for a bite at lunch or a light dinner before a show. There are also great bakery items, pretzels and breads. Coffee, Spices and beer. It has it all. Same room for Jeni's Ice Cream!!
The food smells coming from this place will have your mouth watering! Want to try everything. Forgot this was in our back yard!
Went on a Saturday @ noon so it was understandably packed. Priced didn't seem too high. Good choices of ethnic foods. A fish and meat seller, perhaps a dozen shops. End of the loop for us was Meditteranian, and we wanted it, but the line was too long and place too crowded so we left and had lunch on High Street
Suggestion. If you are at an activity at the convention center and need a quick delicious lunch at a great price with virtually unlimited variety, make the quick trip across the street along Side the Hampton Inn and go to North Market. It's a activity in itself. Great sushi and some best ice cream around and a more nutritious choice than the junk food at the convention center. If there is one activity not to miss downtowns go to the North Market.
A couple of minutes walk north of Nationwide Arena is this cute little market. It reminds me of an extremely small version of Pike’s Market (Seattle). Places to eat, fish and meats to take home and cook, bakeries, home goods, jewelry, a little seating area outside to eat, etc. While it does not take very long to wander through, it is definitely a destination place if you are staying downtown and looking to kill a little time or looking for lunch or a snack.
