We discovered this lovely little town while searching for a winery. Found the winery and so much more! Lots of cute shops with quality products. Shop keepers were all friendly and clearly proud of their town. Many restaurants to choose from ... everything from coffee shops to gourmet meals. Loved the spice shop, the olive oil place, and, of course, the chocolate shop!
This wine tasting event is held the first weekend of September. Lots of wines to taste and lots of foods to eat. The Little Traveler has a huge tent on their front lawn and has 12 distributors sampling wines. You can also buy the wines at a discounted price. The whole town celebrates this festival. There is a craft show, food tents and lots of things to keep the little ones entertained. Each wine venue charges a small fee for samples - you can buy multiple tickets - usually 4 samples for $1
This was my second visit and my husbands' first visit to Geneva. He enjoyed strolling the quaint village streets as much as I. Love the Spice House! Every herb or spice you want is there and their cooking blends are superb. Good prices too. Geneva rocks on the Fox River.
The historic shopping district in Geneva is an excellent place to find unique gifts, enjoy good food and to just relax in the heart of the downtown area. Each shop within the district offers something different. The prices are fair and reasonable. The experience is "old school" with beautiful walk ways and views. The parking is decent. If you have an afternoon to slow down and relax while you shop here and there, then this is the place to visit.
We've lived in Geneva for the past 20 years so I suppose I'm not objective, but I love our little town and can't imagine living anywhere else. The riverfront bike paths are a must for those looking for a short ride with the kids or an "all dayer". We have a charming shopping area (3rd St) that offers antiques, high-end consignment shops, specialty shops (don't miss Cocoon) and our restaurants are terrific. "Nosh" is a favorite breakfast spot. "Little Owl" is a great family-friendly pub. Spend a day...spend a weekend! The Herrington Inn is in the heart of downtown and would be the perfect place to stay for a romantic weekend.
Took advantage of the somewhat sunny and not too cold March Saturday to shop the antique stores and shops in Geneva. Didnt hit them all but there were a lot for all tastes. Even tried the gelato at a local Chocolate eatery!
My wife and I spent the day. Unique shops to visit. You can find one of a kind gifts there. It's a beautiful walk with shade trees everywhere. Get a little? They provide dozens so you take a break inbetween shopping. All the store owners and restaurant staff are extremely friendly. A totally enjoyable place to visit. Don
Stumbled on this delightful downtown area recently and have already been back 3 times. I drop my husband and his kayak off by the river and then drive over to the downtown district. Lots of adorable shops, wonderful chocolatiers, wine shops...what's not to love? Cheap plentiful parking too! Well worth your time. Go an enjoy the day here.
Nice clean and shady place to spend a day, you can step right off the train and enjoy the nice shops, and restaurants. A little up scale with lots of historic charm. From train we walked north to Main Street after looking around headed east across the river, went south next to river through park to the trestle it has walking bridge on bottom head back west up the hill right back to the train. We had a nice time, ate at Sergio's on main, good service and food, a great day!
My wife and I visited the city during the Art Festival and it was very pleasing. Between Geneva and St Charles a weekend can be very satisfying with shops, restaurants and walking tours
