Comfortable, relaxing outdoor experience. Good for picnic, walking, and exploring the river. Good time for all ages.
Whether it is a power walk or a stroll, its nice, cool and very appealing. Since I am from Texas originally, always pay attention to your surroundings anywhere because the Texas state snake aka the rattlesnake can be lurking. Did not see one though.
It is very peaceful. Long good concrete with part gravel trails up both sides of River. There are several entrances as well. Some by park, but others by Lake Georgetown and spill-way, more secluded. Great asset to Georgetown. Walk, bike, run, walk dogs....
There are some nice runs of the San Gabriel, but it tends to be completely dry through several portions, especially in drought conditions. If you are used to the free-flowing, high volume rivers of the East and MIdwest U.S., you are likely to be disappointed...
During flood stage , don't dive in right away, but when placid , it is one good little peach and catfish fishery.
The hike and bike trail along the San Gabriel River is just wonderful. The city keeps is clean and well lit. It runs through different parks and has miles on trails. This is a great place to relax and let the pressure of the world disappear.
Its a pretty Texas site, and lots of history. Don't miss it if you have some time to relax and tak it in! :)
This is one of the best reasons to live in Georgetown! The park offers walking/bike trails, gardens, baseball fields, the recreation center, community center, disc golf, fishing, great playgrounds, bird watching, people watching, flowing water and more! If the climate would just cooperate and stay between 70 and 80 degrees year round, it would be even better. So, next time you are in Georgetown stop at the park and take a walk along the river and enjoy!
Reluctant to rate this park, as it has the perfect mix of accessibility and beauty. One of the best attributes of Georgetown, as well as being one of the least known.
Beautiful river and park. There are trails that got all the way out to the lake that you can get to at different locations. Kept very clean and monitored by park patrol and volunteers.
