"Fast" ferry - hmmm, I don't think so. Very entertaining guide/singer showing us mountains, waterfalls, etc. Very relaxing and beautiful.. Double decker ferry and seating also available on outside deck. We also saw a Golden Eagle..
We used this ferry once off of our cruise ship on our way to our kayaking adventure and were blown away by how great of a show was put on the the mic-wielding tour guide of the ship named Jes. His red beard and love of song and story helped me realize that Bard-Craft is not a dead art and I am writing this review specifically to thank him for his dedication to the enjoyment of us passengers that were expecing to just sit on a boat for 45 minutes on our way to and from Haines, Alaska. Thank you!
The ferry provided an enjoyable round trip from Haines to Skagway as part of a package excursion on a Holland America cruise. The boat was clean and comfortable, the crew hospitable and informative, and the scenery pretty even on a cloudy morning. When the clouds cleared in the afternoon, it was gorgeous. On the way back to Haines, a crew member kept passengers entertained with engaging and well-performed songs and stories.
Fun, fast, informative. Went to Haines to go on the Takshanuk Mountain 4x4 trail ride. The ferry and Adam the guide were great.
the workman sang songs..told jokes...magic tricks for kids it is th way to get to Haines from skagway

Took the ferry from Skagway to Haines and back and what an awesome adventure. Enjoyed the captain of the boot and the other workers very friendly. Will be visiting again in July with my parents and will again take the ferry. The wild life and scenery along the river what just breath taking so much to look at.
We recently travelled to Alaska on an Oceania cruise and one of the excursions we signed up for was a jet boat river cruise on the Chilkat River. To reach our destination, we took the HSFF ferry from Skagway to Haines. Although the weather was rainy and foggy on the way over , we had an unexpected treat on this ferry ride. Alan I believe was the name of the "tour guide" who provided an informative and entertaining dialogue on our ride. The rain stopped during the day and the sun came out, so on our way back Alan gave us another running commentary and also had the pilot/captain of the ferry stop for a photo-op.
We left on time, arrived on time, had seats on the way to Haines, saw beautiful scenery and had an interesting narrative on that direction as well.
The Fast Ferry is a fun way to travel from Skagway to Haines. My husband and I enjoyed the 45 minute trip across the water, and we saw some delightful sights also
