You have to sign up for a tour at the Pro Domos organisation on the other side of the street. When we went the tour was only in Dutch but there was an English audio for the introductory movie and for the interior of the Hall of Knights. This is a good introduction to Dutch history as well as an extraordinary Thirteen Century great hall.
Visited this place in december during bad weather but i liked it! Beautiful buildings and one of the highlights for my trip in the Hague along with the Peace Palace!
this tour is not cheap and you cannot just go in and look around. The great hall has a wonderful high wooden ceiling in the classic boat hull formation. the second part of the tour we took included a visit to parliament to watch the legislative process (in dutch) and we opted out of that part.
... at any time of day, under any weather, I do not know how to explain, there is something majestic, elegant, timeless, peaceful and serene about this courtyard. There are busy people just walking through, tourists taking pictures, and probably ministers and politicians at work. What a beautiful parliament building. This is probably my favorite building (along with the Mauritshuis) in the Netherlands! Anyway it is the first building I go see when in Den Haag!
This is a fascinating complex of buildings in The Hague, next to the Hofvijver lake. It houses the meeting place of both houses of the States General of the Netherlands, as well as the Ministry of General Affairs and the office of the Prime Minister of the Netherlands. But it is far more than that to see. Worth a visit
This is the Dutch Parliament and Senate building, built in a big square at the very city center, with the oldest Ridderzaal in the courtyard middle. The Ridderzaal dates back to some 12th or 13th century, and was a Dukes castle, which was rebuilt and expanded later. With it's Gothic facade it is the most beautiful one. Today it is used for Royalty meetings, ceremonies and speech. All around it in a square circle is Binnenhof, Dutch Parliament and Senate. The Parliament is newly built in a new modern glass and steel building, adjoining and leanning to the old existing one, such representing the continuing mix of old and new.Take a tour which lasts around an hour and a half, and starts from across the street.
Easy introduction into Dutch history. We took the film, the Ridderzaal and the second chamber. All is interesting - also for teenagers.
Certainly a must if you are in The Hague. Beautiful historical buildings which you can walk around. There is also a very informative display which is open to everyone but if you want to see inside the Ridderzaal than you need to take a tour. It doesn't cost very much and it is well worth seeing.
