The Haliburton Sculpture Forest is a great place to go for a walk on a beautiful day. Lots of interesting sculptures in a really nice setting, along side Head Lake. A must do at least once.
If you are visiting the Haliburton Highlands do not miss this great walk through the forest with wonderfully creative sculptures along the way. Great for both adults and children as they can run about as much as they like in a safe environment. The sculptures are amazing and they keeping adding new ones so plan to come back often,
If you are looking for a fun easy walk, with kids or just adults try this forest! The sculptures are amazing and the setting is just lovely.
This unique display of local and international sculptures and structures is definitely worth a look. It's free and a pretty easy one-half-to-one-hour walk through beautiful maple forest. The pieces vary from wood to stone to metal and plastic and combinations of them. There are 30 or more structures now and new ones appear once in awhile. There are usually pamphlets at the entry points that provide explanations of each piece and provide a walking map. There is plenty of parking at the adjacent School of Arts. For some of the pieces you have to walk right up to them and around them to find the hidden, intricate work - so don't just look at them from the trail. While you are walking the trails you are likely to encounter a wide variety of wildlife. And make sure you take the short spur down to the lookout overlooking the lake - there may be loons or mergansers there. The works of art all have a story behind them so for the art enthusiasts there can be a lot to learn and appreciate by investigating each piece.
We enjoyed this diversion to a forested trail with strange sculptures, at a great price (Free!). Campus with an art college, classes taking place as we wandered through. Invited to watch!
Great combination of the forest in the picturesque Haliburton Highlands and interesting sculptures. The offerings are interspersed along the trail, which costs nothing but your good intention to be outside and appreciate the creative offerings of this artistic community. Near the lake, and the amenities of the village of Haliburton...there is also a new bandshell and Farmer's Market every Tuesday. Good to tie all in to one afternoon....
Very neat to walk through the forest and find different sculptures throughout, submerged in nature. Great activity for the whole family.
a guided tour has given us an insight into the artists point of view when they created and donated their sculptures to the administrators of the Sculpture Forest. We thank the former dean of the college for opening our eyes and minds when guiding us through this amazing place.
Enjoyed walking through the trees and finding such a variety of sculptures made with varied materials. Really interesting and unique. An enjoyable afternoon.
We enjoyed all the beautiful art installations! The trails are in great shape, hard pack and wide. We pushed a stroller through and had no problem (just a big hill). I highly recommend joining a guided walk through the trails which adds a whole other dimension to the stories behind each sculpture. I just wish the trail guide/brochure had some of this information as well.
