Just like how clean the park is and it is right in Halifax. You have the Ocean and miles of trails There place for children to play there is so many trail it would take days to do them.
lots of dogs and runners. mature trees and lots of little paths that are not known by everybody. can be busy at times. great place for a picnic. I prefer to go in the evening and watch the sunset.
Trails are nice and wide, with lots of directions to choose from. Lots of ups and downs in the wheelchair, but quite pleasant, well named. Next time we will just drive to the large parking area to the north and enjoy the ocean view from there.
We are so lucky to have this place in Halifax. Point Pleasant Park is a fantastic place to relax, have picnics and enjoy nature. I love coming here to read during the summer, it's a pleasure to get some rest from the stresses of the city. It's also a great place to walk dogs and go running. I would certainly recommend a visit.
Huge, trees, wildlife, history, ocean views, harbour walk, old forts - great place for walkers and joggers...Enjoy..
The location is out of the way for tourists but my wife and I are hikers and did not mind walking the mile and 1/2 from the Hotel. I liked the trails and views. Folks we met on the trail were friendly and in love with their dogs! The fortification on the high end of the park was a neat suprize.
Great outdoor spot in the city. Lots of trees (although many got destroyed with the hurricane a few years back). Many paths to walk through with "street" signs to guide the way. Dog on an off leash areas and shared bike paths. No vehicles permitted makes it quiet and refreshing. There are a few monuments along the way, and some of the paths are along the water where you can watch the boats/ships go by. Great place for a picnic, playing catch or to spend the evening taking in Shakespeare by the Sea. Opened in the winter as well. There are a few hills, but most of the paths are accessible and easy to walk. There are bathrooms at the beginning where the parking lot is, then more along the opposite side of the park. They are clean and always had toilet paper when I was there. I have not used the ones that look like outhouses so I cannot vouch for them. One thing that would be nice would be a place to get water along the way. I love going for walks/runs in the park with friends or alone. It is a relaxing place to get fresh air and clear your mind without being away from the city at all.
If you have just had a baby, and need some fresh air, chuck that little baby in the car seat and take a ride down to Point Pleasant Park. The trail along the oceanfront is a lovely, windy, refreshing walk: flat and safe. Great way to shake off the baby blues!
A great place to walk, run or cross country ski. There is also a good view of the harbour entrance and some history with a Martello tower and other fortifications and the sailors memorial. The anchor from the Bounty is also on display. Dog on/off leash friendly.
This is by far our favourite walking park in Halifax! There are so many trails to explore and beautiful lookoffs along the paths. I have enjoyed running and walking in Point Pleasant Park and I can't wait to take my daughter for stroller rides along the trails once the weather gets better. Sometimes, in the summer months, we will grab an ice cream at the shop located by the lower parking lot.
