Some many wonderful wines. Our Favorite is Dark Shadow! Great customer service! If the weather is nice relax on the patio by the pond. Highly recommend Shadow Springs and their sister winery Windsor Run!
This is one of the wineries in the Swan Creek AVA. We went here on a weekday tasting tour andthey weren't overly busy so we had a leisurely tasting. They have a good selection of wines forevery taste and the chocolate wine if one of the best. I would recommend this winery to anyonewho likes to taste a variety of wines. You can visit all the wineries in the Swan Creek AVA in anafternoon since most are close together. This is probably the prettiest of the group.
On Saturday, 10 of my family members and I purchased some sandwiches from the nearby Amish store and came over here to enjoy some wine with our lunch. Some of us had had a tasting before and we purchased the wine we wanted, others had a tasting and then enjoyed a glass of their preference. This was a grand way to celebrate birthdays and anniversaries of our family! We all decided it was worth a repeat!!
We visited this vineyard over the weekend. They had great wines and great prices. They are a family friendly vineyard and the staff were super nice!
Talk about an indulgence. There is a wonderful wine for choc lovers that can be drank with more chocolate, or maybe ice cream, or maybe cheesecake. Plus they have other wines that are just as good. There's even a strawberry one.
I heard about the chocolate and strawberry wines here, and was skeptical. Upon tasting them, however, I was converted to a fan! Plus, love their regular wines as well, and the staff is super friendly. Take some time to sit and relax by the lake. It's a treat.
We spent a week-end touring wineries in the Yadkin Valley area of NC. Our first stop was Shadow Springs. I had been there before in the group room downstairs. This visit was upstairs. We all enjoyed the wines and bought several bottles. They have a good mix of sweet and dry wines. They also have a nice red wine infused with chocolate which was very good. They also have a Margarita-like wine that comes in a bag for easy transport to a picnic. I'm the sweet wine person and really enjoyed their ice-wine like dessert wine in the pretty blue bottle.
We've stopped at Shadow Springs Vineyard on an annual basis. This stop was a little disappointing with the quality of the wines. We will be back next year, as they have always been good in the past.
This winery has been really well designed to take in the gorgeous views over the water and the vineyards. There is a nice outside deck to sit with a glass of wine and enjoy the view. The tasting room has nice high ceilings, and a friendly atmosphere created by knowledgeable staff. Wines are sweeter here too.
I visited here along with a few of the other Swan Creek Vineyards on Saturday the 1st. This unfortunately was my least favorite. The place is beautiful. Grounds are great and a beautiful pond outside to enjoy on a nice day and the tasting room is very nice. I only wish I enjoyed the experience more. The dessert wines, the strawberry, the chocolate and the combination of the two were really good. If dessert wine is your thing you'll like it. The other whites and reds were just ok. What really lacked was the service. We walked in and the 3 people conducting tastings each had 2 people they were working with and then we were the only 2 waiting. No one acknowledged us at all when we came in. I wouldn't have wanted them to interrupt their tasting but at least a hello we'll be with you soon would have been nice. When we finally did start out tasting the lady doing our tasting was very lacking in excitement. She didn't have much to say about the wine and even said that the merlot...well it's just a merlot. I know she meant there was nothing extra in it but her lack of interest of the wines just really hurt the presentation. Another customer next to us started telling us which wine she really enjoyed when she noticed the lady conducting our tasting did not seem interested in them at all. Towards the end, the gentlemen conducting tastings did come over and assist with ours and he was more excited about the wine and that helped some. This is the only winery we didn't buy anything at. Unfortunatley it was just not the best experience compared to the other swan lake vineyards (including dobbins, raffaldini, elkin, shelton) that we visited. The only reason I would go back is if I wanted dessert wine. It is beautiful but other wineries in the area are as well.
