A big tourist attraction in Havasu but it's quickly realized once you understand the importance of the move this bridge made from England to Arizona. There are factoids and historical information all over the bridge's infrastructure. There are also some great views of the water from the middle of the bridge, a walk back and forth on both sides is well worth it. Views from the water & under the bridge as very unique as well. Kayaks, paddle boards and even boats are for rent all over the bay. There are many tourist shops surrounding the bridge with items that make great gifts. Also, it's illegal to feed the birds, apparently.
Possibly the last thing I expected to see in the US. The bridge was transported and rebuilt brick by brick. The views are gorgeous all around this unique landmark. There are Swallow nests all around the bridge too."London Bridge is a bridge in Lake Havasu City, Arizona, United States. It is a relocated 1831 bridge that formerly spanned the River Thames in London, England, until it was dismantled in 1967." Wikipedia
Very cool bridge with an interesting history. Great walking and some shopping under the bridge. There are boat tours but you need to sign up early to get a seat on one. We were too late and since our time was limited, missed getting to do that.
Drove about an hour to get there, really don't know what exactly I expected, but wasn't surprised. It's a bridge.... not even an architecturally beautifully designed bridge, just a bridge. Remarkable, perhaps, in it's history, but not much more than that. Snapped a few pictures and walked around the boardwalk taking in a few of the standard tourist stores and then drove out further on the island. Took pictures of several miniature lighthouses, then worked our way back. You can rent a jet ski or a boat, or take the ferry round trip for a couple bucks. There are also afternoon boat trips out on the lake available. If you like that sort of thing, this is a great place. As for me, I got bored and we headed back to camp a lot earlier than we had planned on...
London Bridge is a beautiful Arizona landmark. The area is very "tourist-y" which I happen to like. There are lots of amenities around for travelers such as lodging and restaurants.
We could not believe it when we first saw it - old London Bridge nicely straddling the river with boats going up and down the river and everyone having a great time. We walked across the bridge, admiring the old street lights from London, enjoying the views and thinking of the amazing risk that was taken to bring the bridge to the middle of nowhere! A bit like Noah. Well the risk has paid off and we'd be delighted to visit again.
These folks are professional's....customer service to the max. Resort is clean, friendly knowledgeable staff. Happy hr at Martini Bay was exceptional. Stayed for 4 days.... an d has no complaints
Drove to Lake Havasu City (3 hr's) to see the London Bridge. Quite a feat for them to do and makes the city of Lake Havasu AZ. Lots of boat tours, kayak rentals, ducks to feed, etc. so can enjoy the lake/area. City is clean, was quiet and walkway along the lake is lovely. Benches to relax and enjoy the scenery and boats. True, most of the stores are closed but we did get some delicious ice cream. Just a nice & relaxing day.
What can you say? It is a bridge. An average bridge, a tad quaint, but still just a bridge. I saw people standing on the sidewalk of the bridge, having their friends take their pictures, but from the top of the bridge, you really can't see anything special about it. You have to go below to admire the stonework and arches. Also, I found it very short - all in all, it is really not worth going out of your way to see. If you didn't know the history, it would be a very boring little bridge.
Nice little village with some shops Lots of water actives Boat to the casino is $2 round trip. Nice ride. Same dump casino
