I bought two Full Monty packages for myself and as a 60th birthday gift for my father. We came along with the whole family (including children of 7 and 8). From initial booking until leaving the site I could not find fault. The staff were extremely knowledgeable and helpful. It is worth bringing some amusements for the children during some of the activities but otherwise they are well catered for. We all loved the tank driving, with the children perched on top with smiles from ear to ear! Fire lighting in the woods was an education and even the taxi ride (in the back of an APC) was a thrill.Food was plentiful and of a good quality. There were even parrots providing plenty of entertainment. Highlight of the day was then winning the best driver award and being able to crush a car! (I hasten to add I elected not to leave the family in the car but allowed them to sit atop the mighty Chieftain Tank.) Lastly I must thank the whole team for an unforgettable experience that the whole family enjoyed.
Went to Tanks a lot yesterday for a work team building day and had a brilliant time - loved driving the tanks and the gun talk and strip down (of the gun!) was really interesting! Also really enjoyed shooting the boats out of the water! Really nice bunch of guys too - thank you!
Tanks and mud, couldn't get better! Great day with an experienced instructor, great fun and gives you a little insight into what it takes to drive these machines for real. Be prepared to taste mud and enjoy the sounds created by your right foot!
I struggled finding something to do for my son's 8th Birthday party. We'd done all the usual stuff and wanted to try something different. A friend of mine recommended Tanks-A Lot, and what can I say but WOW, what an incredible experience! There were 12 8-year olds and 4 adults, it was a cold, wet January day, and you'd think me crazy taking 12 8-year old boys onto a muddy field to ride on top of Russian tanks. But the whole experience from beginning to end was unforgettable and very different from your pop, cake and musical chairs party. I wish I'd have had the chance to have an experience like this when I was 8! Great fun was had by all, including the adults, bar the stress of trying to control 12 extremely excited 8-year olds. In summary, an extraordinary day, great staff (Nick and Tod were amazing), make sure kids are wrapped up and dressed for war as it very very muddy and be prepared to have your speech ready for the dad of the year award! Tanks a Lot chaps.
What a great way to spend a day!!!! Where else in Britain could you go and drive a selection of military vehicles including a tank, shoot a musket and a mortar, clay pigeon shot, have a survival course, learn about guns, rifles and rocket launchers. All the staff here are experts in their field and very approachable, friendly and very passionate about what they do. It's a long day from 9.00 until 6.30 but the time seems to fly by and even the spectators get involved and are included in the activities. My wife came along as a spectator and has no interest in anything military but ended up fully involved, making fires in the woods, sitting on the tank whilst I was driving and driving a springer 4x4 herself, she also found the talk about weapons in the armoury fascinating. The day cost £270 and spectators are £30 but that includes a hearty lunch, tea, coffee and soft drinks all day. Trust me this is great value for money and you will love every minute of it, Lets face it how often are you going to get the opportunity to drive many millions of pounds worth of tank let alone all the rest. Sure beats 6 laps of a track in a couple of super cars for the same price. Thanks guys you really made it a special day.
Great day out. Attended for a friend of my son's 7th birthday party. Staff were brilliant with the kids. The kids (mainly boys) were fascinated with the mud and the military hardware. Got to travel in an armoured personnel carrier and a Russian Mobile Gun. Boys spent time handling real guns in the armoury. Some of the Dad's tried Aqua-Skipping! Gave the rest of us a laugh....Thoroughly recommend the place.
Dad and two sons aged 18 and 10 went along for the day, brilliand day had by all, excellent staff, excellent food, excellent day allround-boys can't wait to go again
This was one of the best days out I've ever had. The whole day was amazing fun and the guys were brilliant. We went for a hen do and laughed so much. It is muddy and cold so wear lots of layers but so worth it.
Received this experience day as an xmas gift last year, and having attended the event, I can say without a shadow of a doubt this was one of the best experiences I've ever had. Nick and his team are experts in their fields and have managed to purchase used tanks in order to give this experience to the public. There are plenty of different tanks to drive which all handle differently, but you have absolutely no worries with an experienced tank driver instructing you all the way. There's also a fantastic room full of weaponry for you to view that have actually been used in the world's various armies, but the highlight of the day was crushing a car with a tank. You will definitely need plenty of storage space on your camera for all the pics you'll need to take. I'm not surprised at all that there is not one single bad review of this experience on here because all the praise is well deserved. There are added experiences you can take part in such as clay pigeon shooting, which I will definitely consider doing as I know I'm guaranteed a great day. Many thanks Tanks-A lot for the best experience day ever, keep up the great work.
Before being bought this experience as a present, I didn't know that Tanks a lot existed on my doorstep nor what to expect. The day included driving a Russian TS2 tank, a British 432 and a Springer buggy. The tank course is interesting and challenging enough with plenty of water filled deep holes to drive through. The staff are knowledgable, patient and informative. In addition we split into teams to compete stripping and rebuilding a Bren gun and finally an armoury visit an talk. There is a large and varied amount of armour on site and I understand that depending upon the conditions the available vehicles change. This experience is suitable for all ages and genders, the youngest in our group being about 10 and eldest over 70. I thoroughly recommend this as a must do experience.
