I was looking forward to visiting this vineyard. I hear it has quite a gorgeous view. Unfortunately we did not get to find out. It seems, this winery must be awfully proud (or is it "penny-pinching"), because as you drive onto the premises, you are to pay $5 per person to enter.Perhaps their wine is fantastic. I will not know. But, then again, neither do I care.
Of all the wineries we went to the setting of this one was the best. We went in and did the tasting which we thought was pretty good. Afterwards we enjoyed a glass on the deck overlooking the beautiful landscape. It was very relaxing, but it also was not very busy while we were there.
This winery doesn't get as much attention as I think it deserves. It has the best view by far, the girls at the tasting bar were funny and friendly (Although busy) and they had live acoustic music outside which was excellent. We did a tasting, bought a bottle and a couple beers and enjoyed the outdoor seating area.
The band was great. They offer a lot of outdoor seating and a variety of drinks. Beautiful views of the river.
We came here for the wine tasting and the wines were the most delicious out of all the wineries. They also have a large outdoor sitting area with a beautiful view. The only con is that the wines are expensive but we had a blast on the outdoor patio.
To quote the locals we talked to on a recent visit:"Oak Glenn has the best view of any winery in Hermann, and the worst wine of any winery in Hermann." I only wished I knew that piece of advice before visiting, and dropping money on a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon that was not good at all. So, lesson learned: go for the view and not the wine...like the locals suggested!
I gave Oak Glenn Vineyard and Winery only a three because the view made them get a three, not a two like they deserve. When we went, they were not busy...so we figured 'okay, we will get to learn more about the wines since we are not wine-o's by no ones standards'. We were wrong. The lady provided no explanation regarding the wine. She simply gave us our 6 samples for $4 and sent us on our way. Disappointed. But the view was beautiful.
We visited this winery during Oktoberfest and it was a wild and crazy party -- very crowded, live music. The view was absolutely beautiful but we didn't stay because it was so crowded and it was late afternoon and everyone appeared to have had plenty of wine. There was a table of rowdy gals having a bachelorette party - they had a blow up male doll with erect male anatomy -- not something we cared to see so when you want to enjoy a bottle of wine and the beautiful scenery, that was a huge take away and enough for us to leave. We will go back when there is not a festival weekend to see if the atmosphere is different and more appealing to enjoy wine while taking in the scenery and not such a party house. But maybe this winery is the party place all the time?? Not sure.
Spectacular views from Vineyard. Great wine and entertainment. Reasonable prices. Will go back again.
This winery has a prime location sitting high on a hill overlooking the Missouri River. The wine was a bit pricier than other local wineries, but the few we sampled were delicious. We bought a bottle and enjoyed the live music while taking in the beautiful scenery. Can't wait to return!
