great spot to take in all the nature around, great for photos, small parking but people don't tend to stay too long ...recommend for sunset view - just gorgeous... nice spot to hang around with a cup of coffee and just chill ...
This is my 2nd visit to Lions Lookout. At my 1st time I had deep concern about my hotel reservation issue so I did not pay lots of attension to the sightviewing. But I still got shocked by the fall colour over the town. This time I found out that we can view Lake Fairy on the other side. Yes, we have two sides to take great viewing but I have only one word to describe, that is GORGEOUS.
Great place for views for all ages! You can hike up to it or easy accessible by carWe saw people enjoying their picnic on a sunny day.Nicely maintained & we plan annual visit during the fall to see the trees.
Its a fun drive past the Muskoka Heritage sight, up the winding road and to the plentiful parking lot. Wind blown pines, incredible view, very picturesque!
It's hard to find for first time visitors, but the driveway up to the Lookout is behind the Huntsville High School and the Town Area and G8 Buildings.
In late September the fall colours are fabulous and the view of the lake and over Huntsville is worth the steep drive up to the lookout.
What a view, especially this fall, the colours were brilliant! And the water with a blue sky made it awesome.
When we woke up and saw it was a sunny morning at the peak of fall colour in Huntsville, we set out immediately for the short drive to Lion's Lookout. A permanent roofed structure set upon the apex of a hill of beautifully smooth Canadian shield rock provides a good view out over Fairy Lake and beyond. On a sunny day when the broad-leafed trees are around peak colour change, the vista is astonishing. There are other side trails (I don't think they're "official", so please be very careful) that provide different angles and views. Even the pine trees that cap the hill, with their apron of cinnamon-coloured discarded needles, are attractive in their own right.
The lions lookout is a must see in Huntsville. It gives you a great view of the town and the lakes. It has a very natural touch to it and the view is really breathtaking. We went there in the winter times. So the ride up/down the narrow road can be a little bit tricky since the road is not maintained during winter. Getting up there the road divides and people going up keeps to the right. The roads had some snow and patches of ice when I went but my four door sedan did make it to the top pretty easily so you don't need any 4x4. Getting to the lions lookout can be hard though since the signs they have on the main roads are kinda small but they are there you just gotta look for it!
Well worth the drive to the lookout to view the valley. The fall colours were incredible. only spent a few minutes here.
