My first visit to old Hidalgo pump house museum. Interesting, historical pump house fromearly 1900's. It is a small birding area, but saw a black phoebe and butterflies. The groundsare planted to attract butterflies and the water features attract birds.
Schedule a tour for a morning and come learn how the valley became the magic valley. Adults will be fascinated and older children too. Learn how this pumphouse survived to become a living history museum.
We viewed a short video about the Pumphouse history before self touring the Pumphouse. Well done, information clearly stated. The grounds are well cared for, a picnic area available. Platforms to overlook the Rio Grande. Walking paths for the bird center.
While walking around the grounds, we saw a Great Kiskadee. He was beautiful! Very well kept and peaceful, just not very big.
