Great place to tune up your shooting skills. The range manager has each customer read their range practices and repeat one of them out loud. Targets are available at a fair price. Hearing protection is provided free if you do not bring your own. We have not taken advantage of their rental firearms and their ammunition. There is a choice of ranges for pistol, rifle and shotgun. The other shooters observed excellent safety practices while we were there. The target distances on the pistol range conform to those used for the Texas CHL test. Shooting locations are sheltered from rain and have dividers and small countertops. There is a bathroom facility. There is also a target shed where you can get your wood frame target mount.Large earthwork backstop. We like the rural location. We like the courtesy. And, we like the shooting.
As Brits, this was the first time we'd had the chance to even touch a gun, never mind keep one under the pillow...When we arrived the owner (who'd been there for 30 odd years) was very keen to help us get relaxed and help us ready to go.
Visited in October with my Dad, spent an enjoyable 3 hours firing an AR-15 and a pistol, had a good chat with a couple of locals. Reasonably priced think cost around $230 for ammo and gun hire. Painless filling out of paperwork and only needed ID to rent guns.Highly recommend we didn't want to go to an indoor range and this place is very good.Recommend it to get your eye in ready for the Zombie apocolypse. Will definetly take my boy when he's a bit older on another trip to Texas.Great selection of guns available will save up a bit more money next time and have a go of a Barrett !
You get to shoot pretty much anything you want here, and it's very open and relaxed, I have shot pistols before but I finally got to try a rifle and a shotgun, it was AWESOME, I had to leave because our bill was adding up very fast, but it was well worth it.
This is an excellent location to practice target shooting - both rifle and pistol. Very convenient to Lockhart. Best value is to become a member and pay dues for a year. This enables you to use the facilities year-round for no additional cost. Just present your car and head for the range. No time spent signing release forms every time you visit. Targets $1.00 each.
Wife and I stopped at the Lone Star Gun Range while on vacation. Wanted to give my wife the opportunity to shoot for the first time. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, taking the time to make our visit better and more enjoyable. If this sounds like something you would like to try, or enjoy doing, I would strongly recommend making the stop
We headed out to this range to do a bit of shooting on a Monday since our preferred range is closed then and it was the only day we had to go. Depending on how often/where you shoot you will probably find things you like and things you don't like at this range.Pros: several bays available for different types of shooting. 100y rifle, a couple of pistol/carbine ranges and a shotgun range. They have restrooms, targets, rental firearms, ear protection etc available at the little shop. There is shade on the firing line.Negatives: There was almost no oversight at the range, it's basically up to you to police other shooters if they are acting in an unsafe manner. Personally, I don't like being expected to confront some bozo who happens to be holding a loaded weapon about his bozo-ish behavior. Call me crazy. During the 3 hours we were shooting an employee made ONE walk up and down the rifle range, then disappeared back into the shop. For some, this could be considered a positive, as you don't have to feel like you are being watched like a hawk at all times by a range officer. I didn't mind when there were only a few experienced shooters there but as the range filled up there were a couple of people who were clearly novices and failed to adhere to basic gun safety rules. I didn't feel safe near them. The ranges are all dirt with some rock so if there has been a decent rain and you have to walk downrange to check targets, you will get all caked up with mud. Not an issue most of the time in Texas, but worth noting.
Stand de tir ouvert à tous, en particulier aux mineurs... sous la surveillance d'un adulte bien sûr. De très nombreuses armes en location, fusils, pistolets etc...
I took my son for his first time shooting. The price was reasonable and the people were great and helpful
I'm a great believer 'when in Rome......' So while in Texas off we went to the shooting range!!We were greeted by 2 professionals who took us through all the paperwork, ID and checks. Then we were shown hands on all the safety checks with a gun. Then off to the shooting range with our targets. It was an absolutely invigorating adrenaline rush. I have never experienced anything like it before; as the afternoon went on we got better with our aim! I really enjoyed the experience, and felt safe with the knowledge of the professionals at Lone Star Gun Range.
