One of our favorite wineries! Staff is always friendly and wine is excellent!! The grounds are beautiful and great for enjoying parties!
A terrific stop in Hydes, Maryland. A beautiful, picturesque vineyard with all new, state-of-the-art South African stainless steel equipment, temperature controlled and iPhone remotely controlled and monitored! A knowledgeable staffer gave us a great history (our interest) of the property, owners, and the vineyard. The farm buildings are worth the trip alone! We look forward to sampling some of the wine we purchased, yes, untasted, on that sweltering afternoon. Happy tasting to those who follow us at Boordy.
I have long enjoyed the wines of Boordy Vineyards, and now that I no longer live in Maryland I have them shipped to my new home. When I return to Maryland to visit family I try to arrange my visit so that it coincides with a music event at Boordy. The winery is in a wonderful rural area and the setting is just great, We were recently there when they had a bluegrass band playing for the afternoon. The music, the wine, the setting, and our friends what a day!!!!!!!!! Oh, by the way, the food that is available is very good and reasonable. Boordy is an experience that should not be missed.
Stopped off here on a whim after a visit to a local State Park. I've had some of their wines before so I was eager to check out the vineyard. The grounds are beautiful!! Staff is friendly and helpful, there was even a food truck there to solve our lunch dilemma. I was actually surprised at how busy and crowded it was, it seems that you're able to picnic with your own food if you'd like. There is a ton of outdoor seating which was nice, all in all it was a very relaxing atmosphere. There is a section dedicated to wine tasting, you can also purchase wine to drink at this section as well. If you're purchasing wine to go, then there is a separate store just down the hill. No fee to actually walk the grounds but fees for tastings and tours. Wine tasting seems to be at a reasonable price though i'm no expert, I think starting at $5.00 per person and you get to keep a Boordy wine glass. The price increases depending on which wines you want to try and how many (check the website for details). We purchased 2 bottles, the Viva Sangria and the Chambourcin Merlot at reasonable prices (can't wait to try them!). Next time we're in the area, will definitely make a point to stop and support this local vineyard.
I'm taking the time to write this because I was so pleasantly surprised at our recent visit here. You realize once you pull on the grounds this place is slowly becoming a must see on a visit to Baltimore. They actually have grown this from our last visit many years ago to the point they have a person assisting with parking cars in the lot. We brought 6 people and selected the $5 standard tasting. For this price you get a nice glass and entrance into an incredible barn tasting room that contained the tables where you did tasting, with picnic tables where you could hang for a few hours and drink a bottle. The tastings provided broad ranges and our guests were very satisfied with the wine and cheese we purchased to enjoy. We were short on time, and had to pass on the tour, but will save that for another visit. The wines are excellent and reasonably priced, something here for everyone. We have been to Napa Valley, and frankly for an east coast winery experience, this place is an equal to what we did for a week out there, in some cases, better. Not sure on the mixed reviews, maybe we just had the right karma for our outing, nevertheless, the scenery and drive are beautiful, so for a cheap afternoon drinking some wine, how can you go wrong.
Attended the Dublin Summer Concert - 1st concert of the summer series. Had a great time. Nice weather added to a very enjoyable evening listening to a band playing Irish music, drinking various wines from the vineyard, eating great food our daughter in law prepared, relaxing and just having a good time. This was our first time at a Boordy event and we are looking forward to attending future events. Would recommend.
Stopped by after leaving Inner Harbor since it was on our route home. After driving through some precarious winding roads, we found Boordy nicely situated in a rather beautiful area. The wines were really good, the staff friendly and knowledgeable, and a great place to spend some time. We wished we'd had known we could have packed lunch to enjoy under the trees on the property and enjoy a bottle of their wine. We bought one for home instead. Note, that cheese and crackers are available for purchase in addition to wine by the glass or bottle. They do walking tours of the vineyard that last about 30 minutes; however, we opted out of it.
The countryside is spectacular and the vineyard was converted from an old farm. We took their $5/per person tour and learned a lot about the vineyard itself as well as the processing involved to develop several varieties of wine. The tour finished with wine tasting of several selections and we also received a free wine glass. The setting is lovely with tables under trees and they offer music and other events on weekend evenings. A lovely activity for the area!
Went here for a Sat. summer concert, wine and picnic. Tickets were reasonably priced and you can bring your own food and buy wine at the vineyards. They have this quite well-organized...parking, finding a spot to lay out your blanket and/or chairs is easy if you come when they open the doors. The line goes quickly and they don't seem to oversell tickets so although it's well-attended it didn't seem overcrowded. If you want to see the band as well as hear it, come early for a good spot. You can buy taste and buy wine during the event and they have a food and ice cream vendor. Fun activity with friends for a summer evening.
I went recently (not my first time) for a tour and a tasting. My friend belongs to the landmark case club--where you get special tastings. Nevertheless, any time you go, their wines are incredible!!! Each and every wine they make is simply divine. They have phenomenal care put into each release. You may be just a white/red/fruity person, but upon doing one of their tastings, you may be surprised!!! There are few wineries where I can honestly say I really like all of their wines. This particular vineyard is set amidst some of the most lovely nature and surroundings you can imagine. I suggest doing the tour if you have time. If Pat is available, it is worth it! She gives a great background of the history, and you will be intrigued the whole time :) Maybe split a bottle or grab a glass and enjoy it outside or inside. One more thing--if you love animals and are coming from Harford Road or Cockeysville--look up Graham Equine Center (part of Gunpowder State Park). I usually stop there on my way into the winery to pet the horses. A lovely place to stop. Horses and people there are extremely friendly. Very tiny road right past gas station on right where Bowman Archery place is. Enjoy your visit! I always do :)
