We have been camping many places in Southern California but this campground is one of the best! The bathrooms and showers are clean, there aren't so many spaces that the campground gets too crowded, and there are very few motorhome spaces - and those spaces are separated from the rest - so people in tents and pop ups can actually enjoy nature without having to hear generators all day! The ranger was insanely nice, the trails were close and the views were amazing but the best part is that this place is dog friendly! Unlike other places, dogs are actually allowed on the trails here. It seemed like every other site had at least one pup. Our golden retriever had a blast on the trails and the kids were able to enjoy hiking with the dog. All in all a great weekend! The (kind of) negatives: some spaces are really close together. Many aren't, but check out a map before you book. Most spaces are right on the road and they let people in until about 9:30 pm -if you want "quiet time" at 7 pm, try to book one of the (very few) spaces away from the road.

After a good snowfall we travelled to Idyllwild from Coachella Valley hoping to do some sledding. If you are trying to do the same, avoid the roadside temptation and go to this little park.The staff was ready for the rush and managed the limited parking very well. They were friendly and pointed out where to sled.There are bathrooms, picnic tables, and also campsites. It was perfect for our needs, and less hectic than the more public spaces. It was worth the nominal fee per person.

Fair entry fee, $3.00 for adults. Easy access to hiking trails from parking and camping sites. Clean and quiet.

Idy as the locals call it, is a mile high mountain town, high above the surrounding deserts. Several great restos, tons of scenery, great service and some fantastic BnBs ! We rented a Home as vacation rental. We loced every minute of it. The Park itself is very well maintained and worth a visit and stay.

The trip up was as exciting as the trip done. Several places are a little scary if you don't like drop offs. I appreciated the turn outs for cars that were going a little faster than me. Also you could get out and enjoy the scenery. The top has wonderful views.

This park is a nice camping. A lot of space and almost all the spots are shady. Lots of possibilities for kids to play and explore.
