Nothing special here to taste. All of the award winners are off of the tasting menu. Pretty stuffy atmosphere, trying too hard to be like something else (i.e. a fancy Napa vineyard). Would rather hit up any of the other vineyards in the area - much more fun, much more homey, better wine.
Joey and I finally made it to Wise. It's just 5 miles from our house. You'd think you were at a Napa Vineyard. Great location with rolling hills of vineyards. Surprised to see how busy it was on a Sunday afternoon after the July 4th week. Ordered a small plate of filet and potatos and two glasses of wine. Wonderful!!!! And reasonably priced as well. The winery restaurant has a wonderful salad and tapas type dishes which can be paired with their wines for very reasonable prices. The menu is very interesting. The view of the wine vines surrounding is very pretty. You can eat outside in good weather, which is usually the case in Lincoln, CA.
Wise Villa is a beautiful winery in a gorgeous setting. The newly finished wine tasting room / dining room is very attractive, albeit very noisy. I hope they will do something to cut down on the noise from their masonry walled room. Their chef is first rate so don't overlook having a lunch or dinner there. Their trips through the vineyard and the wine making and cellaring rooms with explanations of the entire wine making process are well done. In my opinion, this is the best of the Placer County wineries and it is not as far away as most.
Was introduced to Wise during the Lincoln wine fest. Then shortly visited the winery. The tour was great...and the staff are willing to answer any and all questions. There is a restaurant on site that servers great food. I found going up there around lunch time makes the best day. You have the heat of the day, great food and even better wine...what a way to spend the day with someone special.
Wise Villa Winery is an excellent choice for wine tasting in Lincoln, CA. The setting is beautiful and the people are great.
Have been drinking this wine for some time in fact, belong to the wine club. The care that goes into vineyard husbandry and wine making result in great varieties for all tastes.A little out of the way but worth the drive.
Lovely atmosphere, great views, beautiful surroundings. This place feels like a grand winery. We were greeted beautifully at the door, but once seated seemed forgotten. We did the tasting and ordered food, both of which were very good. We loved the cheese/meat plate. I felt that the server didn't spend any time getting to know us, or the amount of knowledge at the table. He came, gave his blurb about each wine and left. I guess we weren't important.
This winery thinks it is in the Napa Valley. $7 per person to taste; no refund on tasting if you buy wine and you don't even get a cracker without paying extra. There are many better tasting experiences that are both reasonable and quality in the Sierra Foothills.
We visited four wineries along the Placer County Wine Trail. We saved Wise Villa for last because I had read their menu on-line and thought it would be fun to have the cheese platter with our tasting. The winery is beautiful. We sat at a table and had a great view of the winery. Our server was very friendly and informative. She even had a hand in stirring a Chardonnay every day for 9 months. With the cooler weather, we were on a mission to find great reds but we enjoyed their chardonnay so much we ended up ordering a bottle to enjoy with the rest of our cheese platter and ordered more food as well. It's a lovely location., The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. They make great wine. I am sure we will be back. It's only 45 minutes from our house.
