A nice place to visit, daylight or by moon light. Parking was easy in the evening. There are resturants and places to shop nearby.
OK, you've done the San Diego thing and want to get out of town a bit and see a bit more laid-back beach spot ... so we would highly recommend a jaunt over the Coronado Bridge (see the Del of course), but then drive south on the strand to Imperial Beach. Suggestions: 1.- Get your fill of San Diego first, then come down to Imperial for a more relaxed atmosphere. 2.- take the beach road to the end (left off the incoming main road) to the boardwalk park area at the end (cool bird watching) and then over the small dune to walk on the beach with no houses or too many folks around. The views are cool (back toward the pier especially) and if you're lucky, you might catch a helicopter or two training at the base just south; 3.- return to the Imperial Beach and walk the pier, take in the fisherfolk and especially have lunch or dinner at the Tin Fish Restaurant at the end of the pier. Nuttin fancy but excellent, fresh seafood (I recommend the shrimp and fish combo!) and sitting on the pier in the sunshine, enjoying the grand right-out-of-the-ocean seafood was awesome! 4.- Get an ice cream at Cow-a-bunga at the foot of the pier! Enjoy!!
Located at the southern most tip of western California, this pier is the largest and best kept secret to vacation. Traffic is always mindful of safety to bikers and children. Come watch the sunset and be sure to eat at the Tin Fish.
There is a restaurant at the end of the pier, although we didn't dine there. We walked out there each morning we were there and watched (at some times at least 100) surfers. Great waves and nice beach to walk as well.
The view was beautiful, but the we walked to the end of the pier only to find the restaurant closed. Very disappointing.
The restaraunt has been at the of the pier for quite som time and they serve pretty good take-outfish and chips, fried shrimp, large cold beers and great views!
Able to see seal swimming, other wildlife, good view. Fun for the kids to walk out and get a different view of where we were. Should include this as part of your stay here.
nice walk, friendly people along the way, sunny day. took some good photos. Seafood restaurant at end of pier, seemed okay but we were not hungry to try it, wished I was!
Great pier, nice view on the beach , surfers...fishermen, so a great walk to digest and enjoy the sun
This beautiful beach is well worth a visit. It's a calm place with a beautiful long pier. Small, easygoing center. I could have stayed all day, but unfortunately had to rush. One of my favorite places I ever visited. I could move here. Grat icecream close to pier, BTW.
