This is by no means a deserted beach. Locals are very aware of it and it can get crowded. Nevertheless, it's worth visiting. There's also a big rock that borders the beach that you can climb/hike to the top of (I think it takes about 45 minutes - bring shoes).
The most popular beach for Teenagers and "Young Adults". You have a long strip of sand and a calm beach on the right and a beautiful rock mountain named "Costão de Itacoatiara" where you can hike and climb.
That's a small beach. Most beautiful in Niterói. Good place for people looking for get in touch with the nature and meet beautiful and healthy people. There's not many services at the beach. No chairs or tents for rent. No big lunches: just only sandwiches and some beverages. if you want something bring it and enjoy the beach, trails and mountains around with very little urban things disturbing you. The beach is good for surfing!!Bad things: transit going and coming back sometimes is awful. Nature is not what it was 20 years ago, due to everyday increasing pollution.
A great place for surfers and Nature lovers. The view for those who dare to climb the rock on the left side of the beach is fantastic
The beach is amazing! Nice dunes, surrounded by vegetation. It is a great place to meet the beautiful people of Niterói.Surfers, bodyboardders, beautiful men and women, families...you will see a great mix of people. But when the beach is empty, the natural landscape fills your soul.A beach that you must to see!
Its a nice and clean beach with some tasty sandwiches going on :)Everybody that goes there MUST climb the "costão", its a very beautiful view of niteroi and rio.. it might be a little tricky for someone out of shape, but not impossible!the beach is a little dangerous, though... tourists that arent familiar must be always paying attention on how far you are from the sand! not a calm beach to relax in the water, not at all!
High mountains, safe neighborhood, beach bars, clean water, big waves, beautiful people -- what's not to love? Heed those "No Bathing" signs, that undertow is not to be taken lightly.
Great for surfing, also for kids on one end, nice small cafés for lunch and cocktails, beautiful landscape with two great rocks in each side
Fantastic beach very popular specially at weekends and wonderful waves for those who surf. Disliked the difficulty in car parking.
If you plan to spend some time in Rio de Janeiro I recommend you to see this paradise. It is placed in a city nearby and only a few tourists know it. It is most visited by locals, so on sunny weekends the beach is fulfilled of beautiful people.
