I was awestruck when first walking into the lobby of the Galiano Oceanfront Inn and Spa. The overall image of the mural doesn't fully reveal itself until you stand away from it. I purchased a print of the mural and just got it framed. While the print is quite beautiful, it can't reproduce the wonderful textures of the real thing. You have to see the real thing for yourself!
This mural is well worth the visit - a beautiful work of art, and an amazing collaboration of over 200 artists. It has to be seen to really be appreciated!
This mural is well worth seeing! The overall first impression is very powerful. Then as you start to examine each artist's square, you are enthralled with the detail. Each square is a different work of art, and can stand on its own. But the most surprising thing is to see all these separate squaresComing together to form one fabulous piece of art.
This is a fascinating mural. Each tile was made individually by different artists who had colour and line guidelines, but didn't know what the final product would be. The result is scenes of British Columbia combining to form an image of a killer whale and her calf. Brilliant.
Came back the same day to spend another hour looking at this breathtaking masterpiece. Big wow factor.Walk away from the ferry, right next to a top-rated pizza restaurant of the island.
Comprised of lots of little pieces of art by a large number of artists who were just told what colors to use and lines to follow..each square is a piece of art on its own but the collage comprises two killer whales...absolutely one of a kind.
It was fun to enjoy each individual painting, but even more fun to try to imagine the process to create the large mural. Just beautiful, well worth the stop. You can also sit in the outdoor restaurant, enjoy a woodfired pizza and maybe see some whales swim by.
A person could literally sit in front of this masterpiece all day, and continually find new, amazing and interesting pieces! It is truly unique and beautiful!
You will not tire of this. Saw it in West Vancouver during the Olympics and now it's on Galiano Island. You can sit and look at it for hours, trust me. It's unbelievable. I won't say any more you have to see it for yourself. Okay I will say just one thing: it's HUGE and it has 200 different paintings in one
Stop in Galiano Inn and see this amazing mural ! Ask the story behind it. Such a pleasure to view! A true masterpiece with a unique story.
