Despite less than ideal conditions, Capt. John got us on some unbelievable fish! He was great with the kids and incredibly knowledgeable about the natural history of the area. Not only was the trip exciting, but it was really interesting. Definitely worth every penny and we will certainly be back again!
Awesome charter, very accommodating! Guide really worked hard and produced! Will definitely use again!
Fished with Capt. John and caught my first inshore grand slam. He put me on the fish with a very short boat ride. I would recommend him to anyone fishing the Charleston area.
Some friends and I had a great time fishing. We were all beginners and everybody caught something! I highly recommend Captain John. I can't wait to go back.
Had the chance to go out on a trip with Colt on the 10th. It was my Father in law, Brother in law and 11 year old son for a six hour day. Probably the hardest day of not catching much I have had in a while, but it was not for lack of knowledge or effort. Colt worked harder than any captain we have ever gone with, making sure that my son did not go away empty handed and he caught a 17+ lb shark. Overall had a great experience and will write off the day to random acts of fishlessness. Next time we come back, I will be looking up Affinity and requesting Captain Colt.
We had one of the best fishing experiences with John. He took us through some very scenic waterways before putting us on the fish! He seemed to know right where they were. I would definately recommend Affinity Charters to any of my friends. Tight lines and good fishing!
Thank you for your comments and suggestions. We always strive to make every fishing trip the most productive and memory filled for each customer. You requested a trip with the most action for conditions and that is why I suggested the reef which is usually large numbers of smaller fish. I suggested a morning start time which you booked for 7:30, to get you guys out there before the afternoon sea breeze and the chop. At the last minute you wanted to cancel your morning tour and switch to the afternoon. Which we switched for you to accommodate your needs and wishes , even though we suggested the morning time to be the best. With going in the afternoon the seas picked up which kept us inshore instead of the reef. You guys caught more than 6 bluefish casting lures and lost a few more, after that Capt Colt tried to get you guys on something larger like bull redfish , but only caught a few sharks, whiting and sea bass. He moved on to do more structure fishing for reds and you guys boated a nice black drum. Capt Colt worked hard and kept you guys out extra time to make up for the slower bite. Hopefully you guys enjoyed the fresh fish dinner, after returning Colt cleaned and bagged up the drum and whiting. Colt was upset that the fishing was slower than normal that day, but tried to keep everyone busy and entertained. Thank you for your comments and suggestions, Capt John / Affinity Charters
We took a 6 hour charter with Affinity Charters with a 7 and 10 year old. Captain John Fuss kept the kids entertained the entire trip. From catching bait fish to start the morning to educating them on the wildlife we came across on our trip. We were on the fish the entire charter, catching over a dozen species, culminated by some giant Redfish and several sharks. Cant wait to return for another trip with Affinity Charters.
My dad and I went inshore fishing with Colt. We didn't have the best bite but Colt worked his tail off to put my dad and I on 2 huge Reds! We had a great time and Colt was a pleasure to fish with. Affinity does a great job of making you feel like family.
My 14 year old wanted to fish for red fish so he did all the research and we booked with Affinity Charters. It is about a 90 minute drive from Walterboro, pretty easy to find with google maps. On our appointed day of fishing the winds were blowing at 25-30 knots and it was cold making it difficult to head out to open waters BUT Captain John went above and beyond in providing a memorable experience for us. Everything was provided for a very profitable fishing event and Capt. John does everything for you including some valuable casting technique tips. We would spend about 10 minutes per spot and if the fish were not biting we would move until we found the right spot. We caught 17 red fish and 9 black drum. It was such a wonderful time and it was all possible because Captain John Ward. You can rest assured that you will be in excellent hands with Affinity Charters, John is professional, kind and very knowledge about the waters in South Carolina. This by far was my sons favorite time while in Kiawah and the fond memories have been etched for a lifetime!
