Found the staff not all friendly to customers. We were the only two customers in the store. Will not be back, there are a lot of wineries to visit....
We went to a wine tasting and had a very intentive staff member who explained the wines sold at this estate. We went in to purchase a dry red wine and left with a dry Dolomite white wine. Largely due to our re education about white wines.
That is so awesome to hear!! Thanks a million for the lovely words….see you again soon!
Main St. in Jordan, in particular, is very quaint with a variety of stores having unique merchandise that appeals to the big city dwellers as well as the locals. You will find everything from Cave Spring wines to garden décor, chic clothing, jewellery, antiques, modern furniture, yarns, a Canada store, fine dining and a coffee shop with live entertainment. A tour and tastings are available at the winery. Parking is nearby. Spend a night at The Inn on the Twenty, a luxury hotel, and hike the Twenty Valley and Balls Falls or tour the countryside.
The wonderful woman that was assisting us in our wine tasting INSISTED i try a wine a don't normally like. so glad I did. If you get the "bossy" one, listen she knows what she is talking about.. Thanks for a great tasting!
A very knowledgeable staff. Extremely courteous. We asked for the location of the vineyard and they gave us great direction. Also asked if we could have chilled white wine and this was provided to us.
On the advise of a friend, she suggested that our trip to Niagara Falls, should include a stop in the little town of Jordan... While we were there for a great lunch at Zooma Zooma, we decided to do a wine tasting at Cave Springs across the street to save another stop in Niagara-on-the-Lake.At first, the only woman attending both the cash and wine tasting counter was quite busy with customers and we were not sure about the place.... But, once she freed up, she could not have been more hospitable, and knowledgeable about the wines and tastings. It was such a lovely experience, as we have felt like many of the other Niagara tours and tastings have been so impersonal. (Also go next door to see the ladies at the fudge shop for good old fashioned service as well)Our day in the Niagara region was made exceptional, due to our visit to Jordan and Cave Springs.
We may be old gals but we can hustle with the best of them!!! Thanks for the lovely comments.
Staying at The Jordan House hotel so had a free tasting (for two) of a flight of 4 wines and slightly less than an our each. Chap serving was enthusiastic and knew his wines quite well. Not sure it would have been worth the fee.
The Pennachetti family has really done so much for the wine region since the mid-70s. You will learn about their influence within the VQA and within Jordan itself when you take this short but informative tour. Pat was extremely helpful and personable and we really enjoyed her talk. We have been on many tours in the region but still came away having learned more than we thought we could. There Dolomite wines are also really unique and we wish we had brought more home with us!
