Bought tickets to see Dance 'til Dawn. The show was great and seating comfortable. There was just one problem, crowds were gathering in the lobby, waiting for the inner doors to open. There was very little organisation and wheelchair users found it very difficult to get through. If people were allowed to get seated a little earlier, maybe this could have been avoided.
I popped into the front lobby at 2pm on a Friday afternoon to purchase theatre vouchers as an anniversary gift for my sister. I thought this would be a quiet time to do so, as there was no matinee on that day and my visit was well ahead of the evening performance. I approached the counter where there was a young lady looking at a computer screen another moving from desk to desk with little purpose like a butterfly and two other staff members in the corner of this small office in a discussion. I waited patiently for FIVE MINUTES and no one gave me eye contact or acknowledged me in any way until I was forced to ask for service. The lady at the computer then turned her head, and without any apology or contact to me directly, asked the butterfly girl to serve me. The only reaction from the other two staff members was a pause in their discussion.Absolutely appalling service.
Excellent cast, everyone great, good entertainment from all, very funny,Mike Doyle should be on t.v. Lovely theatre
This is a fabulous venue. Great shows, centrally located very affordable. However, not much in the way of legroom in the Upper Circle if you are a taller person.
Went to see `Dance til Dawn` at the New Theatre in Cardiff last night, it was a lovely experience, with a full auditorium, great atmosphere, brilliant choreography, and you could feel the essence of this vintage building, with its original features all around you. My only negative, as its a very old building, the seating is quite squashed up, so if you have long legs, may be you should hire a box, for the legroom or ask before you book if there are seats with extra legroom.
Just went to see One Man 2 Guvnors, absolutely hilarious. This was my first visit to The New Theatre, it is absolutley delightful and atmospheric. It is so close to plenty of bars and eating venues that there is very little walking required to make a full evening of it. I will keep an eye on all upcoming events and will most definitely visit again
This visit was to see an old favourite show in an old favourite theatre, we saw Jesus Christ Superstar. Had seats row c centre stage. Every visit is filled with enjoyment, clean fresh surroundings, friendly staff, the management do a great job keeping the theatre in good condition. Can't wait for the next time. The show was pretty good too, many years since I saw it last.
Attended a packed first night with a friend and we both loved, loved, loved every minute of it and, judging by their reaction, so did the rest of the audience. It was so funny I literally laughed until I cried with no worries about 'panda eyes' as the mascara got 'washed off' my lower lashes!! The acting was brilliant,as was the timing and delivery of the lines even when (at one point) there was 'input' from a member of the audience the add-libbing made me laugh even more. Very well worth seeing.
Lovely old theatre great atmosphere. Good choice of shows easy accessible as in the City centre. Beautifully maintained and preserved.Car parking right opposite and several bars and restaurants in the area. Very close to four hotels
We are regular visitors and have been again twice recently and have another visit booked for May.It's a great traditional theatre and the staff are always helpful. Two great productions recently including 12 Angry Men & The Business of Murder. Easy booking on the Internet and the tickets are ready and waiting for you on arrival. There are other theatre style venues in the City but the New Theatre is our favorite by far. Comfortable and cosy with traditional, plush decor.
