This is about as fast as you will ever go in a go kart. search for coupons before going to save 5-10 bucks per race. I went here with a group of friends for a birthday and we all had a blast... each lap is recorded to the mili-second and the course is challenging and the karts are fast and responsive.
We have been to several kids birthday parties here. Kids have a blast as well as the parents who drive. The biggest downside to this place is if you want to go with a friend or two. We have tried to go on numerous occasions and have been informed that it will be a two hour wait!! They need to restructure the way they handle walk-ins vs. scheduled groups. Obviously, large booked groups take priority and they don't have a solution for people who walk-in and just want to spend an hour or so. Definitely call ahead, otherwise you will waste time and gas only to be very disappointed.
Corporate events there and my husband likes going there too. Best one in town. They change up the track every now and then. good place for kids bday parties too.
Friendly, courteous staff, had to adjust to electric karts. But I've been going once a month for 4 months now. I thoroughly enjoy the racing. Love this place. To avoid long wait times avoid weekends.
Typically would take my son and his friends here and would watch them speed around the track, but I tried it and had fun too! We took a group from the office here for a team building event and had a blast - watch the competitive side come out.
My cousins visit every summer and this raceway is number one on their list of things to do. Well organized and a lot of fun for the kids. Dad's find the cars quite confining if you are over 6 feet tall! Just let the kids race! Teaches them driving skills...
It's a cool place if you want to drive like a maniac and not get a speeding ticket, but if your tall, beware. The design on the go cart seats are not for anyone tall, I'm 6'5 and after two races, had a very large and painful road rash burn on shoulder blade from rubbing on the seat that took about 7 days to heal. The carts are one size fits all but if your vertically blessed, wear a heavy denim coat or else.
Another great track/facility by K1 Speed. Having thoroughly enjoyed their Torrance location, this location was just as fun. Everyone from the staff at the front desk to the track marshals and managers were welcoming, friendly and helpful. The karts are fast and fun - after your first race. I found out that for your first race, the karts are slightly handicapped so that you have a chance to familiarize yourself with the track and the kart. They should make that clear somewhere, because this could make for a bad first experience, if you are constantly being passed and flagged to let other cars pass, always thinking that you're doing something wrong. Other than this, it was am awesome experience, just don't get discouraged after your very first race. If they think you are holding up someone else, they will slow you down to let them pass. This is good when you have a mix of people, but doesn't allow for real wheel to wheel racing. If you're going with a group of people, you might want to let the marshals know that you don't want easy passes and that you'll work for them?? Worth a shot! And for everyone scoffing at the thought of electric Go Karts, give it a try - they have enough torque to give you overseer out of every corner, and glue you to your seat on acceleration. They are on par, if not better than some gas powered karts I've raced.
I love K1, it's fun and great for teenagers and adults alike, not for little kids. It's a little pricey for what you get but it's fun. They have some food and beer available as well.
Good location and affordable - blow off some steam and drive fast (legally!). One note: if you are tall or big-boned, you may have sore hips the next day. The cars are small. My husband is a big guy and was bruised, but it was totally worth it!
