My friend took me to the church and I had an enjoyable experience. Its quiet and serene. The glass paintings were wonderful and so was the church dome.
Easy access for handicap.Location is ideal to visit with many other sights. Liked the Old World decor, brought back many childhood memories.
Was the best music ministry I have ever heard. The Church is beautiful and the people friendly for a Pa. guy.
If you are in downtown San Jose and have nothing against catholic church, make the effort to spend a nice, quiet and peaceful hour visiting this church and you will be rewarded with European grand church but on a smaller scale. If you are going, try going when there is good strong sunlight so that the stainglass will be at it best. If you have no intention of attending the services then you may want to check out when they have their services.
After seeing many cathedrals in Rome, Paris, and Madrid in the past few years, I have to admit this cathedral in downtown San Jose holds its own. Very nicely done and open to the public for viewing and saying a quick prayer. Close to the downtown park and restaurants makes it even more convenient!
This church is one of the first Basilica's in the area. Such beauty inside. You don't have to be religious to appreciate the church.
If you are near this church, you must go and experience the serenity it gives you. I've been twice to mass here and I loved every minute. It is the prettiest church I've ever been in. They have a very nice statue of St. Michael as well.
The Cathedral Basilica of St. Joseph is a somewhat plain facade in downtown San Jose. Inside this Basilica rivals many European churches with beautiful windows and fresco details. Has been modernized to "in the round" altar and seating, but the perimeter is classic. Great stop on my short stay in San Jose.
I came here and really enjoyed the visit and the mass. I came during lent and the processional music was beautiful.
I spent quite a bit of time at St. Joseph Church in downtown San Jose. The Cathedral Basilica of St. Joseph is located in downtown San Jose. It is a minor basilica and the cathedral church for the Diocese of San Jose. It is also the first parish established in California not affiliated with a mission, although it was staffed with Franciscan priests (Jesuits would later take over staffing). This is one of California's finest churches.Have had many baptisms and weddings here.
