Kiama's weather was balmy, mild and never too hot or too bracing. Absolutely fantastic. Kiama itself has many heritage and terrace houses. All of it very charming and cosy. Friendly people, too. The nearby Southern Highlands were emerald-green even in February. We'll come again.
The upgrade to the surrounding area allowing a clearer and safer view of the blowhole. We were there on a calm day, have been there during rough weather which is far more entertaining.
High tide is best for some spectacular viewing and photo opportunities. The Little blowhole is really good at high tide with some very high water spouts.
Easy access to the site and the blow hole was blowing beautifullyParking excellentAble to view the blow hole at a distance and up closeGrassed areas great for our dogs to play onDisliked all the cigarette butts lying on the ground next to smokers receptacles
If the wind is blowing and the tides are right then this is an amazing spectacle of mother nature!Make sure you take your camera and be careful not to get too wet.
Pleasant walk up a hill from the bustling & busy town (especially on weekends) of Kiama. If mobility is a problem there is a car park closer to the blowhole. Like other reviews have noted, time your visit to see nature's forces at play - best at high tide. Most adults & kids enjoy it and a good opportunity to talk a bit of science plus safety with kids - an ex teacher talking here! Talking of kids...a grassy park, tables & chairs, a nice playground all in the main street of Kiama & a few minutes drive from blowhole. There are also excellent cafes etc in main/side streets of town. So a good day trip from Sydney for families or a stop on drive to &/or from the beautiful Sth Coast of NSW. Try to explore further south too if time as the countryside, beaches and small towns are worth it!
This hole in the rocks must send a great spray of seawater upward when the tide is in. For us it was a tiny puff of mist once every for minutes. There is also a light house and the headland is a good vantage point to look out in both directions up and down the coast.
Best attraction in Kiama, a must see by all. Kids loved it aswell. Interesting and fun at the same time, with a beautiful lighthouse near by.
