We tent camped at the Westshore campsites on Flathead Lake. We liked the fact that there was a lot of shrubs and trees that providing privacy between camp sites. The sites and restrooms were well kept. There were some very nice hiking trails as well as having easy access to the lake. The campground hosts were friendly and helpful. We would stay here again. Great view and quiet.
We brought a picnic and scoped out a table with shade but good lake access. The lake is beautifully clear (and cold), the kids enjoyed swimming and floating. Take water shoes or flip flops, getting into the water over all of those rocks can be painful and tricky. There isn't a beach area really, just enter the water anywhere. We took a two minute hike over some rocks and found some cliffs where many people were sunning and jumping off into the lake. Claim your table early in the summertime, it fills up. But nobody seemed "territorial" and many people would put down a blanket anywhere, it was never a problem. Fun day!!
Flathead lake is a beautiful lake that is very large. We like to go to the park and have a picnic. It is a nice well kept place and a fun place to stop and enjoy the beautiful scenery
Due to time limitations, I only took some scenic drives around the lake, photographing and purchasing some of the great cherry packs from the orchards that grow on one side of the lake. But even these were well worth it. Next trip, I'll hire a guide to Wild Horse Island on Flathead Lake and charter a fishing excursion.
This campground is right on the lake, many sites with easy lake access. At least one heated restroom with shower. The annoying part of State parks is the reservation system. However, after a mix-up, I visited our local Fish, Wildlife, and Parks office, and they promptly corrected the problem. We would camp at this park again.
Flathead Lake State Park in Montana is always a beautiful place to visit. The water is clean and the area is serene.
Crisp air, great scenery, perfect for a day at the lake. If your just looking to escape city life, this place is so nice. All the town people are friendly, local services downtown. ..doesn't get much better.
I took my son here to take photos and we walked around for hours. It was nice to see all the different kind of ducks and wildlife. It was really well taken care of and I loved all the homemade furniture.
We took a boat tour out on the lake. It was lovely but being from the Lake Tahoe area I have to give the beauty to NV/CA. If in this area, it's worth the visit.
The best way to experience Flathead Lake? Go in it of course!! There is no better place to take your family for a nice afternoon swim in the summer, or to have a family bbq for dinner. The views are amazing. The water can be quite chilly- even during the scorching summer months- Just bring a blanket or chair, and watch the colors change as the sun begins to set in the evening.
