So beautiful place, the light, the acoustics at the church, saintness lives here and it'll get you as well. Enjoy and check the views up the stairs (4 LTL) or by elevator (8LTL).We got a peaceful mind from this church :)
Christ's Resurrection Church is just grand! A very power site to see! it can be reached by the Kaunas funicular which was designed by German engineers. It costs only 1 Litas for a ride! The church was designed during Lithuania's independence when Kaunas was the capital. After the Soviets took control of the country the unfinished church was converted into a radio factory. It was later completed after independence. Great panoramic view of the city can be seen! The terrace is a great place for a wedding!
This extraordinary white church towering over the city came about through an idea for a house of workship in praise of Lithuania independence in 1922.
You can get to church from Center taking Žaliakalnio funicular. This church has been restored after being closed and used as a factory warehouse by the Soviets. Now, in sunny days it glare. The church is big and all in white. You can take the lift or the stairs (cheaper ticket and more attraction :) ) to the roof viewpoint and you will have fantastic views over Kaunas. Church is 70 meters high. Viewpoint is working from 12 to 18 hours.
We got to this church via the funicular (price 1 lt, about 25p). we had a quick look round the church which was huge and then walked up the stairs to the roof top view point. It was wonderful, you could see for miles, all the city, river, everything, was a wonderful photo opportunity. price was 4 lts (about £1) it cost 7 lts (about £1.75) to use the elevator. well worth the walk up the stairs. There were clean toilets also.
a modern style church with sharp rhythmic verticals and a white distinctive staircase silhouette in the centre of which a 70-metre-high tower rises up...amazing view on Kaunas from the roof terrace, don't miss it !!!
Catholic or not, stop at this church and take its stairway to heaven (actually an elevator to be more convenient) for a panoramic view of Kaunas. You'll find yourself pausing and breathing deeply -- which proves to be the best inspiration for a prayer of your own. The church itself, like most churches in Lithuania, contains a unique Design in a setting to worship Christ. This church is the pride of the people of Kaunas, who donated to build this church in the interwar and donated to restore it to its splendor currently. It also has a cellar, often featuring an art show. Various programs are held on Sundays following mass.
It is a really beautiful church.I'm not so much interested about churches but if you are in Kaunas you really need to visit it. You can go up to the balcony (with elevator or steps) and you will have a beautiful view to the city. You can go up to the church with funicular what is goes from behind War Museum
This church has been restored after being used as a factory or warehouse by the Soviets. You can reach it by taking the funicular railway from the town centre. The church is beautiful in white and has a wonderful serene feel to it. You can take the lift or the stairs to the roof and you will have fantastic views over Kaunas. If it is a sunny day, you are dazzled by the white stone from the chucrch itself. The church is a poignant reminder of the brief turbulent history of Lithuanian Independence from the 1920s/1930s.
The highlight of Kaunas. Interesting both outside and inside. You can climb the stairs (or took the elevator) and have the city view.
