I was not real impressed with Catania! This Duomo though was spectacular! The cathedral there was so gorgeous! I finally also found the rosary's I had been looking for and they were not expensive either! Sold them in the cathedral. Were very pretty too!
The church is beautiful but the people attending the morning mass are very noisy and they are only interested in the statue of St Agatha
Amazing, extraordinary. It is worth taking a stroll inside, but outside the architecture is very beautiful. It is in the main square, so you won't miss it.(Well, you shouldn't!)
I got a chance to see this Cathedral during the day and then at night, lit up with a full moon over it. I just fell in love with the facade. The interior is...the interior (and I can't say that the Patroness of Catania's story is a pleasant one). If you like Cathedrals, go ahead and go in...it is the "usual" loveliness (GRIN) and most likely a cool oasis in hotter months.
big and cold, visit to jewellery exhibition was worth wile. the cathedral is almost bare from the inside but it is "grand"
Catania is a city not in the Focus of tourists.but you can find fine examples of Greek, staufer Kings and baroque architecture.the duomo is typically for the Lava Stone buildings.together with the townsquare and the fishmarket worth a visit.i like this city and the inhabitants, not tourist-orientated.
This imposing Cathedral, in typical dark, Catanese Baroque Houses the most venerated saint in all of Catania - Sant'Agata. The Catanese celebrate her feast from February 3-5 when the procession lasts for 36 hours or more. An event not to be missed!!
A typical Italian cathedral - no more, no less - but certainly worth a visit just to see Bellini's tomb.
If you are in the area take a stroll past and have a quick glance inside, the exterior is more majestic than the interior. You don't need to spend a lot of time here.
