Hagley Park is a great place to wander and enjoy the many different trees and settings. Excellent parking off Park Terrace at the bridge entrance to North Hagley. Drive into the beautiful mature tree canopy and park up. There are lakes, Avon River, garden walks, Rose Gardens, Hot Houses, an amazing paddling pool area and young children's play area. Best suited for under 6 year olds, parents and Grandparents. There is also regular garden tours by mobile open mini train/car type transport. Cafe and Ice Cream kiosk. So much to enjoy all for free except the ice cream and coffee! But you can bring your own and have a picnic like many others. The keen and fit have a running/walking track that circles the Park, Cricket Oval and a golf course. There are often events and exhibitions or art works/sculpture on display. The Peacock Fountain by the Museum entrance and I-Site is beautiful reminder of past life and prominent early businessman.
We are in Christchurch for the National Senior Kapa Haka competition which is being held at Hagley Park .. Awesome venue well appointed and well resourced .. Lots to see and do and places for the lesser haka fanatics to hang out without having to leave the venue ..
This park is very large, has some nice trees but is mainly grass with a flat golf course. The new cricket ground looked very nice, small country style.
Free parking facility, close to Info centre where we were able to book the red double decker tour bus, sedgeways and gondola rides.
Lovely park to visit, love all the trees, the kids and i needed to stretch our legs, and it was nice to see other families walking around enjoying the scenery
We didn't plan on heading into the park when we left the hotel but headed up wandering for a couple of hours in the evening and it was absolute bliss. The River Avon flows through the park which creates an amazing backdrop when combined with the trees and plants that line the path. If you are a keen photographer ensure that you take your camera to capture the beauty.During the day, Hagley Park is perfect for sitting down with a picnic or just a pleasant stroll. There is a cafe and other facilities in the park.
又是基督城的一片绿地,还是在市中心。进入后却完全是另一个世界。一大片的森林让人心旷神怡。里面有条河上是不是游船出没,甚是悠闲。还有好多鸟一点都不怕人,在那里自顾玩乐。
Very impressed with the facilities for netball here and a medical centre included also. Great to see where some world cup matches were played and the practice pitches for all to use. There are acres and acres of parkland to enjoy albeit the grass was a little dry due to the drought.
Hagley Park and the Christchurch Botanic Gardens are a must see. Set aside by the early settlers it covers a magnificent 160 hectares or 400 acres. The internationally acknowledged gardent along the banks of the Avon River are a delight and hold many horticultural gems. The park always has something of interest with many active sports grounds whether it be in season tennis, bowls, golf, netball, cricket, football, rugby or model sailing boats. There is a very good cafe in the gardens.Go for a stroll bout in the park beware cyclists who share the paths as they can silently appear.
A great place to relax away from the bustle of a busy inner city. The tree lined park has sports fields, jogging and cycle tracks and plenty of open grassy areas for relaxing on those hot afternoons.
