Have visited this park multiple times in many seasons! It is nice all year round! Sled riding in the winter, walking through Squires Castle, and hiking throughout the forest are all fun activities! You could spend all day in the park walking through and discovering all there is to do! Really one of the best parks in Cleveland.
Love this park. Plenty of different trail options: paved, dirt, horse trails. Many places to park, different picnic areas and options. Friendly people frequent the park every day of the week. Have occasionally seen park employees biking on the paths to make sure everythings ok. A large lake is here as well with a beautiful wooden path and docks.
This is a real "gem" and part of the vast emerald necklace of parks in NE Ohio. Lot's of great hiking trails to get "lost" on, common areas and pavilions to hold cook-outs and a great nature center for everyone young and old. Lot's of easy to see waterfalls, wildlife, overlooks, old growth forests and hidden corners make this a must visit when on the East Side of Cleveland!
Great park with plenty of trails to choose from. Since we were limited in time, we were only able to hike 4 of the trails: Wildlife management loop trail, Buttermilk falls loop trail, White pine loop trail, and the Scenic Loop trail. The wildlife management trail is the only one of the four that I would suggest possibly skipping and/or replacing with another trail because it had standing water throughout essentially the whole trail, which made it difficult to traverse at some points (although we did see a deer with it's calf on this trail which was nice). The other 3 trails you can't go wrong with, beautiful lush forests littered with various kinds of big and small trees and shrubs all throughout, along with the small (but very nice) Buttermilk waterfalls. My buddy and I couldn't believe a park this nice is a City park. If you have the time and enjoy nature and the outdoors, do not miss this park!
Residents of Cleveland are very fortunate to have a wonderful collection of nature preserves and reservations around the metropolitan area. This is particular, is a huge reservation in the midst of residential areas. Lots of easy hikes, ponds. Many birds.
This is one of the best parks of the Metropark System around Cleveland. I have a little preference for the South Chagrin Reservation, about 10 miles south because it is larger, more diverse and less populated. Still this is an excellent park for picnics, hiking, horse riding, bicycling and nature watching. It has several accesses from the eastern suburbs of Cleveland with abundant and convenient free parking. It has a park center where you can get info and maps, several places for picnics, many covered, a small lake and even a castle (the gate house of a mansion). It has a network of dozen miles of trails, paved, bridal and rugged hiking trails. The latter are about a dozen, ranging from one to four miles and are well marked with signs of different color and animals. You can combine most of those trails for a distance of over 10 miles across forest, water falls, streams, ravines, up and down the valley. You can download a trail map from the Metropark website.
Cleveland Metro parks in general are awesome, but this and Rocky River Reservation are our family's favorite. Good hiking, nature center, ponds, waterfall.... it has it all.
I ride my horse here a lot in the summer. The trails are wonderful. The scenery is awesome. Perfect for a place to enjoy the outdoors. Bring your picnic and go see the Squires Castle on River Rd in Willoughby Hills. It is special.
Great for hiking, viewing nature, and relaxing! I always enjoy this area, whether it's sunny, raining, or snowing.
This is one of my favorite places to go. Whether it be by myself, with my children or just my husband and I. There are walking trails, a nature center with lots of fun activities and there is also Squire's Castle which my kids love. This is definetly a must see. A very relaxing and beautiful place!
