The beach is nice but the best part is there is a paved path that goes along the road for several miles. It's a great place to go for a walk or a run and there were also a lot of people biking.
This is a beautiful sandy beach with miles for walking, watching the ships come and go out of the Naval shipyards. Found quite a few sand dollars and some other small shells. Can't beat the light breeze off the ocean on a warm day.
Rented bikes and rode along the bike trails. Uncrowded with a great beach to enjoy along with views of the Pacific on one side and San Diego on the other.
Worth the drive to stop at Silver Strand, shorter walk from parking to the water's edge than the beach north of the Hotel Del.
Another beautiful Coronado beach. We went during the week in the morning and there was hardly anyone there. It's definitely less crowded than the Coronado Municipal Beach down the road. It also isn't overshadowed by hotels and apartment complexes. The sand seems to shimmer with gold in the sun and the waves are consistent but not overpowering. The beach was really clean and there were decent facilities. The one thing we didn't like was that we had to pay a full day rate to park even though we were only going to be there for a half hour walk. There was no attendant to speak with, so we just paid the rate.
We especially enjoyed the 1.5 mile Bay side Nature Trail along the Silver Strand bikeway. Park at the Fiddler's Cove Marina (at the northern end) and you'll see the beginning of the trail.
family friendly. easy access, safe area watch out for rocks if there have been recent storms. Good memories.
I reviewed this beach but didn't check the review..instead of the most beautiful beach in San Diego it came out foul! Lol My apologies! Blame spell check..this is the most beautiful beach in California or anywhere that I've ever been!
Stayed with relatives in the RV park. Nice beach, beautiful sunsets. Problem is they close the gates at 7pm. You need to take a cab to town if you want to eat dinner unless you plan on coming back early. If you take a cab, you still face a 1/2 mile walk to get to the RV section from the front gate.
Less than 5 miles away from the more-frequented beach at the famous Hotel del Coronado, the Silver Strand Beach offers an equally scenic beach. With only a handful of visitors it felt like we had the whole beach to ourselves. Parking at the on-site lot with an automated credit- or cash-accepting machine was only $2 per hour with a daily maximum of $10. We noted a few visitors collecting some of the shells and sand dollars that littered the beach. I believe there were bathroom facilities, but we did not use them.
