Although the weather wasn't great we made a run at the Halibut grounds out of Anchor Point, Alaska. This is a beach launch facility where they take a large 4 wheel drive tractor and hook it to the boat trailer with everyone in the boat and back it out into the ocean. Kind of unique.We fished with Dustin who is the owner and a boat captain. He has a very nice welded aluminum pilot house type boat with twin motors. Very typical for the area. His equipment is up to date including the navigation system.We were a little rushed due to the building seas but still had a good time. We caught our limits of one Halibut over 30 inches and one under 29 inches. I would recommend Dustin. He is quite a business person as he is running a fleet of boats and has now bought out the Owen/Early Fishing business.

just came back from a 8 day fishing trip. stayed at ALASKA HOOKSETTERS LODGE, all fishing is booked thru RUSSELL FISHING and the trip was totally awesome!!!! The staff was the BEST...from GLENN who helped us plan the trip to ALL the fishing guides we had. Dustyn, who was our Halibut guide...to Paps aka Bill and Glenn our salmon guides..to Brian and Dale our sockeye guides down to the Chef Karmen and Mecca...made our trip exciting and welcoming. You cannot leave and say you where every hungry...they supply breakfast...pack you your lunch for your fishing excursions to a dinner that is out of this world,,,and im not talking hamburgers and hotdog food....Im talking salmon...fettichin with lobster...to your horderves that consist of soup and items like fried pickles to deep fried fresh halibut. then an enjoyable evening sitting around the firepit talking to other guests about there day of fishing. Met some knew friends from Airzona...Texas....Iwoa...Oregon. Take my advice,....if you are looking for an Alaskan fishing trip on a budget this is the place to do it!!!!! Words cannot explain how happy and relaxed we feel from this trip.

The people at Russell Fishing have the best Guide Service in Alaska!! From huge Rainbow Trout to monster King Salmon to Halibut and so much more. They are some of the most professional guides money can buy! Not to mention one of the most inexpensive services in Alaska. From Glenn to Dustin to Pops and all the rest of the guys and Lady in that company. I want to say thank you for such a memorable trip and hope that you guys fish on forever!! If your looking for a GREAT TIME this is the place to go! They have started a "Spawn On" Blog and idea that will keep fish in the water so generations from now can have the same fun that we did fishing for Trophy fish. Thanks again for a great time and we will be back!!!

Fished with Russell's in early July. The guides are exceptional, they went above and beyond what I would have expected. Caught plenty of Salmon and Halibut, but it was more of like hanging out and fishing with a good friend than just out with a guide. The lodging was great and equipment was adequate. Will defiantly book with Russell again in the future.

Great people, good food, Kenai peninsula salmon...all at a very affordable cost and time structure. This is clearly a great value for anyone interested in the Alaskan fishing scene.

Guides were overworked and tired. The owner/captain played favorites with his business partners, making sure they had the best bait and the best spot on the boat. Guess who limited out? Poor communication, a lot of confusion, and poor fishing made for a bad experience.
