This park has hiking trails, picnic areas, a pond...wonderful place to walk the dogs, just get out and enjoy nature. Fees charged during the summer.
We used to go to this park all the time in the summers but the past few years its been swarmed on the weekends with loud inconsiderate littering slobs....my advice is early summer during the week or late summer before the chill of fall hits....
its a very nice state park had a good family time lots of picnic tables hiking paths and swimming ......come plan on spending the day kids will love it
My son and I came on a hot day - great place to jump in and cool off. Plenty of places to picnic around the lake.
This was one of the state parks I've visited which had been left relatively natural. However, there were bugs like you would not believe, so bring your insect repellant.
I have grown up near Chatfield Hollow and it has always been a secluded park which is great for grilling, fishing, hanging out or any other sunny sunday afternoon activity. Worth the trip.
This park is a great park for all ages. There is a pond for swimming, picnic areas walking area that are paved and also hiking trails that are very well marked. Dogs are allowed but there is a leash law. Water area is stocked with trout for fishing when in fishing season. A very nice man made waterfall, covered bridge and waterwheel are great for photos. I walk almost everyday there with my dogs
If you are in Connecticut and love hiking and rock climbing Chatfield Hollow is for you. You can start small children on a life of fun and adventure. Chatfield Hollow is big enough to have a fun hike and small enough not to get lost. The cliffs and caves are great for younger children to start their rock/cliff journey.
Chatfield Hollow is a very nice wooded park with walking/ hiking trails and a swimming area, I guess some people fish there to. Many people will spend the day and use the grills/ picnic areas as well. My family likes to ride bikes, walk, or long board as there are enough speed bumps and pedestrians that cars are forced to drive slow. There's also a nice boardwalk area for walking as well. pay to park in effect from Memorial to Labor Days.
Chatfield Hollow State Park offers great hiking trails, swimming and picnic areas. I like to walk my dog there in the off season as the scenery is tranquil. Lots of people can be found there on the weekends with their dogs or hiking. There are lots of picnic spots, many with grills. Be prepared to take your trash out with you as there are no trash cans until you leave the park. During the season ( Memorial Day - Labor Day?) there is a parking fee for cars.
