Of late, this has become a famous attraction of Coimbatore. Three things, I think has made it so famous: the scenic location, the peaceful ashram and the attitude for service to humanity. Located in the foothills of Vellingiri Hills, it is surrounded by many tourist attractions. This was established Sathguru Jagi Vasudev.
the steps are so high, the old will find difficulty in climbing, there is no provision for differently able to reach the dhiyana mandabam, the roads and paths are not suitable for bare foot walk!
a well maintained place for a weekend for the family ,good food with fantastic ambience and lots of people to guide you through all the places situated there.A Serene and demure place.
Had visited this on Dec 25, 2013 and simply loved it. Was lucky to reach there early morning and was the first person to get into the teerthkund for the day :)Had got to know about this place while on net around early 2011 and after seeing the website was simply wanting to be there. Dhyanalinga was very nice and Linga Bhairavi was a surprise as I was not aware of it, but loved the vibration of the place. I found the place extremely peaceful and calm. Was able to spend only a couple of hours early morning due to lack of time, but would love to go and spend some time there and exploring the vellangiri hills.Btw, I have not done any isha course, but have read some books and seen videos of sadhguru... enjoy the isha meditation as well :)
It is well maintained. A place one must visit and experience for himself for the divinity and the peace of mind he can get while sitting in the dhyana mandapam for 15 minutes.
Pros:Definitely worth a visitGood locationCons:We went in with a lot of expectations as we had completed the Inner Engineering course. This place felt more religious than spiritual unlike our experience during the IE programThe temple has too many steps and COULD NOT be visited on wheelchair with or without assistance. We did not visit the center where classes are taken and the retreat center/cottages, so cannot comment about those
Serene location, at the foot of the hills.Pillar-less structure/dome housing the Dhynalingam is architectural marvel and gives abundant positive vibrations.Lingam (made of mercury) immersed in water is a wonder to see and feel.
A unique experience of meditation, chanting and time with spirituality. The directions aren't very clear which increases travel times for those unfamiliar with the place.
people are thinking this is only for Hindus, No there is a diyana centre located for all kind of people who ever coming for Tour or Relax. Diyana centre maintained well and service was awesome.
Please watch one of the videos on Dhanalinga and do your homework to raise your awareness before going to the Dhyanalinga Temple. The ashram (Isha Yoga Center) is the abode of a living master, Sadhguru. It's taken several lifetimes to create this temples. It's a yogic temple, dedicated to raising human consciousness. It's a portal to the beyond. Drop your calculations and procrastinations, don't try to understand it. Just go and sit in the temple for sometime. It's probably the best thing you can do for yourself. It's not a tourist spot, it's a yogic temple. You must also visit the adjoining Linga Bhairavi Temple to pray for your family, health and material well being, You must have the 'payasam' (prasad), it's delicious!
