This museum has been a big hit and has constantly grown bigger and bigger. They have so much for the kids to do - even a big model of the S.S. Badger that kids can drive their little cars into. When I was there last, they had a House of Flavors pretend ice cream shop and I believe they change the exhibits from time to time. If you have kids, they will love this museum. Check on times that it's open because I think it staffed by volunteers so the times can vary.
Great value for all of the different features here. Our 2 and 4 year old could have spent an entire afternoon without getting bored. If you get a rainy day and need to entertain kids, this is a no-brainer.
We were vacationing near Hamlin Lake with three 5 year olds, an 11 year old and teenagers....we had a dreary rainy day, so I packes the 5 year olds and the 11 year old up and heades to Sandcastles...They did NOT want to leave, they had so much fun, and for a small place there was so much to do! They even asked to go back still! Great staff, tons to do, a kids dream!
This is a great rainy day activity with little kids. Plenty of places to have pretend play, such a a corn conveyor, cow "milking" station, pizza kitchen, grocery store, post office, and more!
Reasonable cost, great exhibits, lots to do!! Grandson always enjoys it. New exhibits this year include an airplane!!
This is one of the best things that you can do for your children and grandchildren. Located in a historic building in downtown Ludington, MI, this up and coming attraction will hold their interest, and keep them active for hours. We even took the whole family to their New Year's Eve party, complete with a huge balloon drop to top off the evening. The plane that was taken apart, and reassembled, hanging from the ceiling was a huge hit, particularly since my 31 year old son could share some of his flying expertise with my 5 year old grandson. The SS Badger charmed the family, and the climbing wall was hard to leave. If you're vacationing in Ludington, build in an afternoon for this wonderful experience.
We took 3 grandchildren, two four year olds and one thee year old. It was fabulous. Clean, developmentally appropriate and kept the occupied for three hours!
I wish I lived closer as this children's museum is so much fun! My son is 6 and had so much fun playing at all of the different displays he didn't want to leave. His favorites were the airplane, water and wildlife area and the sandpit. He loved excavating like a real archeologist. There was so much to do, I wish we lived close enough to get a season pass.
A local? A visitor? You must not miss taking the children to Sandcastles. Whether 2 yrs old or 10, they will have a wonderful time. Family from out of the state were so impressed with this children's museum in downtown Ludington...they couldn't say enough nice things about it.I know there is a lot to do in the summer in Ludington...the beach, the events, the state park...but you will not be disappointed if you spend some time at Sandcastles with your children.
Sancastles is a great museum. My kids (all under 10) all love it...even the adults love to get in on the fun!!! It is a place where kids can be kids and it is so fun to watch them explore!
