we took the 10.00 boat tour that leaves the Riverside every two hours. Totally worth it for the two hours as the tour includes interesting history and narration. They serve drinks and everyone on staff was friendly and making sure you are safe. it was warm that day but this would not be fun unless it was. Make sure you do this tour it was totally worth it to see the Dam
Drive over if you please, but the 'tour' is a half-dozen placuues around the main building. No, tours. One ranger-guard sits on the dam in his pickup so that nobody gets out of line (?!) It is fenced off anyway, so all you can do is ride a bike or walk across. Were it is shut down to traffic due to the 9-11 thing. I mean, come on, you think you can blow this place up with a Mack truck full of explosives? After all, it used to be the way across the river for 99% of folks before Don Laughlin co-opted the bridge.
very clean river as you could sea the river floor .... cottages are well maintained and roaming staff are always available for help. There public showers and toilets are well maintained and clean !
Pre 911 Davis Dam had a tour you could take inside the dam. Now there is just a place to park and some signage to read to give you history of the dam and the river above and below it. Still a very neat place to visit. Takes about 1 hour to see everything from this point. You can drive around to the other side of the river where they have put in a very nice park with picnic areas and handicapped fishing pier. Probably about a 15 minute ride to the park, up to you how long you stay.
We just went to look at the dam because we were passing and it was there. Never expected to find a well landscaped area with bbq's bench's cover for shade and you also had access to the Colorado river, with some nice views alround it would be a great spot for a family day out.
Nice boat ride for 10 dollars each. takes one and a half hours for the trip. You can buy drinks on the boat.
We always come down to Laughlin from Las Vegas for the swimming at Davis Camp. Decided to take the short 5min drive to the dam. The Dam was closed but you could still drive to the edge which is beautiful. Drove into Lake Mead off the side and off roaded to Princess Cove. It was a little dirty and the previous party left all their trash. Kathryn's Landing is beautiful and busy with boats launching and docking. Campsite Cove is a MUST! Perfect swimming for small children. Convenient and clean restrooms and not busy with boats and other water crafts. We may have found out new family spot for just $9 a vehicle!
No where near the size of the Hoover Dam; however, this giant still performs an important function. The park area is quiet and clean. A great rest stop.
Due to "security" you can't drive across the bridge in front of the dam. Lake Mohave is awesome. Have a good time. Thanks to whoever put in all the mileage markers, navigational hazard buoys, etc.
Took the USS Riverside for an excursion tour. It traveled from the Riverside Casino north to the Davis Dam, turned around, went south to Harrah's Casino, ans returned to the Riverside Casino. The views of the Davis Dam from the boat were wonderful.
