We attended the Sunday morning 9:30 service. The church was filled by the time the service began. Visitors were welcomed with leis made by one of the members. New comers introduced themselves, and then followed a typical Methodist church service. We had communion the Sunday we were there, and all were welcome to partake. At the conclusion of the service everyone formed a circle around the perimeter of the sanctuary and sang a beautiful Hawaiian song. Regular attendees know the song and sing it in the native language. It was a lovely way to conclude the service. After the service ended there was a gathering for coffee and pastries outside. I would love to attend again.
Besides providing a fulfilling religious experience, this church goes out of its way to welcome visitors. I received a flower lei, and all visitors stood and introduced themselves. The minister gave an excellent sermon in an engaging manner.
Our family worshiped at LUMC for Christmas Eve this year and was so warmly welcomed by their congregation. The music was a highlight for us all!
I visited this church many years ago on a trip to Maui. I loved being there. It was welcoming and friendly. A wonderful service and a wonderful memory of my trip.
Attended the service on December 28th. Could'nt have received a warmer welcome. Wonderful vocal music by a Tongan Family Choir. and an inspiring sermon! The sanctuary itself is historic, bright, and airy. A truly uplifting spiritual experience.
My husband and I really enjoyed worshiping here. The members were very friendly and welcoming. The flower lei, ukulele playing and Tongan choir were all very special. The message was thoughtful, meaningful and wonderfully delivered. Thanks to the Lahaina United Methodist Church for a very meaningful and memorable experience!
Always feel welcomed. The congregation is very friendly and remembers us from year to year. After 6 visits there over 9 years, it feel like a "home" church.
I read reviews before going to Maui and knew I wanted to spend my sunday morning at this church. I was not disappointed! What a beautiful chapel with it's stained glass windows of palms, and Hawaiian flowers. Ukulele music and a Tongon choir, conch shell call to worship, leis for the women.....it gave me a feeling of how the "old" Hawaii worship probably was. The church members were more than welcoming, and I thought about how tiring that must be for them every Sunday....to make so many visitors welcome! And, we hit a lucky Sunday as the PASTOR was being married that day and invited the congregation to stay and be a part of the celebration after the service! We couldn't stay, but it was a joy to be able to share in the excitement of the day.
This is a lovely old and well-maintained building filled with Christian love. We visited this church solely based in Trip Advisor Reviews. About one third of the people were visitors. The pastor's message was very loving and spiritual speaking about how to share Christian love. There was a ukulele group and a Tonga chorus. Leis were given to the visitors and members went out of their way to talk with us. The service includes The Hawaiian language and the circle of ohana at the closing was lovely. I recommend this to everyone.
Very welcoming of visitors. Great congregation and service. Attend a service and stay for the fellowship coffee on the lawn. Buy some postcards from the gift shop.
