This is a great way to pass the time or explore the Canals and Waterways around Fort Lauderdale. The Cost is $26 for an all-day pass, $21 for a Senior Citizen. The Taxi runs every 20 minutes. The Inter-Coastal Waterways were amazing. The Mansions and the Yachts of the Rich and Famous are spectacular. Even more enjoyable are the entertaining, informative and interesting anecdotes about the Celebrities as narrated by the Captains. We enjoyed getting on and off at various stops to look around:Stop # 3 for the Las Olas Boulevard, Stranahan house, Museums and Galleries.Stop #8 for the Beach and the Restaurants.Stop #9 for The Bonnet HouseLuckily for us, most of the Taxis were not crowded, and we able to catch the taxis back at the above stops.Be prepared for lots of walking at the stops. Most of all, be prepared to hear the same funny stories repeated in every Taxi. The worst thing is the constant reminders for tips. This gets annoying after the third or the fourth ride. Many people simply sit on the Taxi for the entire loop around the rivers, which takes about 2 hours. We lucked out, but I am sure that it can be a hit or a miss if you are trying to board a taxi when nobody is getting out.
Try is for a fun way to get around the canals and waterways of Ft Lauderdale. Drivers give interesting details of local color.
If you love water and need to move around Fort Lauderdale. ..this water taxi is the nicest way to get there. Great fun!
We used the water taxi on a recent trip to Fort Lauderdale. The boat picked us up right from our hotel, which was pre arranged by reception. We then paid $26 per adult for unlimited use to hop on and off all day until 10pm. A guided tour with lots of information of how "The other half" live. It's an absolute must and well worth the money!
Nice way to travel at a reasonable cost but very frustrating when two mornings in a row the boat is full and your left standing on the dock. Should be a rebate for that.
There used to be a true Water Taxi but now it is only an all day pass and really the water bus. Too bad, it was a nice way to get from point A to B on the water for a reasonable price, but easier now to take a land based taxi
Our first time in FTL so we hopped on/off the Water Taxi for several hours. We had low expectations, and were pleasantly surprised --- very fun & interesting! Did the main circuit, the Hollywood part and the downtown part. Start with the main circuit / and if you have the time - add in the Hollywood part (southern extension). It takes you down past the cruise ships and the freighters, and you can see some wildlife. You can hop off and wander around the Hollywood Broadwalk (restaurants, shops). Water Taxi was giving out coupons for the 15th St Fisheries --- we didn't use the coupon but we did hop off for lunch -- and it was very good! Good waterfront restaurant where you can watch the tarpons swim around under the restaurant (and feed them with purchased food if you want).
We took the Water Taxi while on vacation to Ft. Lauderdale, what a great relaxing surprise. My downfall in life is not getting name to give credit to the people who make the experience great. Went through the intercoastal waterways, viewing big yachts, persons of interest homes and funny stories and interactions. Highly recommend this experience..
We enjoyed this scenic get around, but it was frustrating learning the directions and times of the boat trips. Therefore make sure you have enough time to enjoy this amble without worrying about deadlines, ie planes or room limits
Take you all over the place, up and down the Fort Lauderdale intracostal and to a drop off near las olas blvd. Boat drivers are friendly and helpful, I take visitors on this all the time.
