Excellent shop with beautiful, very good quality, products with a range of prices suitable for all pockets, exciting and fun to visit.
Must see with family and friends! A lot of unique things to see! Prices are reasonable and customer service is great and Dan does a great job with everyone!
This was my 3rd time in Rapid City and 3rd time at Prairie Edge. I always find something new to admire. This time the lady behind the counter in the Sioux arts display area explained a lot of the beadwork to me. I'd had a vague idea that the beadwork on animal hides told stories, but to have her explain the symbols and meanings was very worthwhile. It's why I much prefer traveling in the "off" season -- fewer tourists leaves more time to actually learn more details. I wish I'd had the money to buy anything in this section. Elsewhere in the store, I found another piece of woodwork that blends well with a piece purchased on an earlier visit. I also spent considerable time upstairs in the art gallery. Whether you have a lot of money to spend, or very little to spend, Prairie Edge is a store that should be visited, because you can learn about native arts here.
some of the best native american art work done in the northern united states. I and my friend are natives he is a north Dakota native and I'm an Oglala souix. his family comes all the way from north Dakota to come to this store for shopping. as well as family and friends from my tribe. we get all our shirts, caps, cd's from this store. the csa's are friendly and helpful I suggest this store to every one that wants to learn a lot more about native americans.
It is an experience to visit, especially if you love native american art. I love the glass bead gallery but rarely can I afford something from the glass cases- at bit high priced- even the star quilts which are okay in quality fabric and design. I do love to shop there.
Beautiful items of Native American Art - a wide variety of art, jewelry, beading and beads, leather products and leather, books, ceramics, paintings and prints - plus more. Very attractively presented with wide aisles and an elevator. The restroom is accessible also.
This is a great place to see some History (retail store) and fun to browse thru. I found another Indian history book to add to my collection. I like the fact they have Indian artists working on the premise. The value seems good when you get to seem them work.
As you're walking thru Rapid City this store deserves a visit. We don't usually rate individual stores, but this has to be an exception. It's a store/museum of Indian handcrafts and western art. Done very well. Staff is very informative, very helpful. Surprisingly we did see some things that looked like they were handcrafted by Native Americans but, alas, turned out to be made in India. So, as usual, beware. This store "ain't cheap" but well worth a visit. With very few exceptions, they offer unique items from books, jewelry, glass ware, to bison hides, Indian crafts work.
I live in the same town as Prairie Edge and it's my all-time favorite shop...hands down! The building itself is beautiful. The gift area is full of unique pieces. There's a book store with amazing books. The jewelry....the drums... but the art gallery in the upper level...I could spend an hour or more up there and be happy. This place has soul. Good energy.
B-E-A-UTIFUL store >>>> Display of many talents in the Indian Arts. Hand-crafted gifts and many, many paintings & Indian dolls...so much to SEE !Very creative place and the buzz word of Rapid City . . . a Must GO! GO! GO! to Prairie Edge. One red light across the way the from the Drum Company . . . @ Main Street Square.
