Largo central park is just off busy Bay Boulevard, but it is a quite well kept piece of parkland, a bit on the small side by American standards but with a brilliant enclosed playground for young children with just about every kind of climbing frame or adventure play thing you could imagine. It is neatly enclosed within a four feet high mesh fence, thus keeping it clear of dogs etc, the whole floor area is covered with astraturf, an absolute magical place. The rest of the park is made up of large lawned areas, with several bronze sculptures of children in acts of playing. There is also a magnificent memorial to the personel of the armed forces, coastguard and merchant seamen of individuals who have served their country over various campaigns, showing a genuine pride in their flag and country, this park is well worth a visit.
This is a pleasant little park in downtown Largo. There is a culture center on property and the library is close. There is a small kids railroad that runs around the park. They do a good job with Xmas lights and it makes for a nice stroll at Xmas time.
This is probably one of the biggest parks I've been to in a while. There is a large variety of fun things to do at the park (see-saw, different climbing things, big slides). Plus they have the cutest mushroom tables. There is a lot of open space for kids to run around and play and very useful exercise machines.
This park is awesome. The City of Largo does a great job maintaining it. Besides it being directly next to the library and cultural center, it also has its own mini train kids and parents can ride. It runs first Saturday of every month and is free. Fourth of July they do an awesome fireworks show. And for Christmas they have millions of Christmas lights all through the park. Definitely recommend!
Worth an evening visit and walk thru the lights in the park. Friday afternoon market also a nice touch.
If you find yourself in the Clearwater area during December, drive over to Largo Central Park. After parking, you will be surrounded by thousands of Christmas light displays. You can walk through brightly lit arches, you can walk on glowing sidewalks, you can sit on a bench and take in the wonder of it all. This is a family-friendly park with a great playground for the kids.Parking is crowded, but the parking lots are close to the walking paths. This is definitely an experience that you will remember and talk about for a long time.
I live close by and I love Largo Central. My daughter loves to ride the train the first weekend of every month and I think it's a really cool idea for the city to do that. At Christmas the lights are amazing even though it doesn't seem like they have gotten anything new in the past few years but taking our daughter to look at all the lights and grab a hot chocolate or just a romantic stroll through the park is really nice. The only down side is that on the weekends the playgrounds are loaded with children and there is no age division so the older kids run in with the younger kids and most of the time the parents are not watching if they are even present. This park also does fundraisers, food truck events, family movie nights, all sorts of events throughout the year for any and all ages.
My wife & I along with our 4 yr old grandson met our niece & her family here for the day. What a delightful park, so much to do. Made us wish we were kids again with all the climbing areas. This was a well planned out park with children in mind and activities to keep them busy & active. An exercise area for adults to do their exercises as well. And, don't miss the mini train ride.
We stayed in the Largo area while vacationing this winter. We walked our dog every day in this beautiful park. We met many nice people also walking their dogs. The park was clean and the landscape was gorgeous. Many statues displayed throughout and a respectful military memorial. Events are held in the middle of the park. We enjoyed a Chinese Cultural event that weekend. The playgrounds were new and the little kids seemed to enjoy themselves. Also miniature trains occasionally travel through this park. It was a delight to see. Just a pleasant experience. The park was well lit as we would walk our dog during the evening too. We felt safe. We will be returning next year. Go and enjoy this lovely park. We are glad we did.
The city of Largo spends a lot of money on parks and Largo Central is one of the golden gems. From holiday lights to too many events to describe. The small scale train rides are great for young and old alike. Your kids will love it soooooo much!!! Playground too. and a Theater.
