This place is simply amazing. There is a lot to see right when you walk in the door. You can have your picture made with the king, speak with the falconer, browse the gift shop, admire the décor with its armor and flags, or sit in front of the gigantic fireplace. Each area in the arena has a color and a knight to cheer for. The king is the story teller and he does a fabulous job. It is also a learning experience as you see the stages a boy goes through before becoming a knight. They show the most beautiful horses, tell the story of the falcon as you watch it glide overhead, watch the knights participate in a tournament with sword fighting and jousting and superior horsemanship. The guests are served dinner throughout and it is a tasty fare eaten with your hands. They sell souvenirs during the show and you can meet the cast afterwards. Worth every penny!
Bring your appetite an spirit, had a fantastic time and was truely motivated to be involved and supportive of your Knight. If you liked being a kid a eating with your hands, this is perfect, don't worry they provide wet naps. The performance is very professional, the Horses amazing and the story line entertaining. Schedule this into your next visit to Atlanta!!!
The family had a great time. We were really surprised that the food was great as well. The show was wonderful and the kids were so excited. I told all of my friends and family that they have to see the show. The children loved the fact that they were eating with their hands. The horses are huge and they are beautiful. This show will be exciting for the whole family.
I went to this place with a dear friend on a Dragon Con night and it was everything i had thought it would be. It was magical night and it actually felt like we were taken back in time. Kudos goes to our server Chris Powell. (Got his last name from my check stub) Entire time, he kept on in the Medieval times mode. He was charming and as enchanting as the show. Every item he served us from the menu, would be a witty item like dragon toes being served (which in actual were ribs) or blood of the dragon (which in actual was Tomato Bisque) He stayed in character making our meal and time much more enjoyable. I was happy to have him on our side. Chris is worth gold to the place and looks like someone who enjoys his work completely. Thank you Chris and thank you Medieval times for making a lovely evening
I expected a cheesy hour and a half show with mediocre food. The entertainment and food were great! We took our 11 year old daughter and a friend to celebrate their birthdays - they were both completely enthralled. Would highly recommend for kids of all ages!
I recently went to Medieval Times for a birthday celebration. First off, there was a promotion that allowed me to save $40 on tickets: all I had to do was bring a non-perishable food item. Score there. Help the local food bank and my pocketbook at the same time. The show was great, wonderful for a date night, hanging with friends, or a family outing. The food was great and there was plenty of it! Just be aware, they do not give you eating utensils, so you will be eating with your hands. Not as messy as you'd think, for adults anyway. Be sure to have all the essentials if you're taking children. It might not hurt to have a small flashlight with you either. The venue is very dimly lit because of the show and sometimes you just need to see, especially if you have little ones in your group. The show was fantastic. We felt as if each actor was thoroughly in love with their job and the horses are beautiful. Very clean facility. Very friendly employees. There's plenty of staff on hand, so you don't need to worry about getting lost or not being able to find your section or a particular place in the facility. Top notch service. I would go again in a heartbeat.
My husband and I were celebrating our 13th wedding anniversary on march 14th and it was our 2nd trip to Medieval Times (the first time was in Orlando for our 1st anniversary). EXCELLENT SERVICE AND FRIENDLY STAFF. The experience helped make our anniversary very special. My husband and I had our names announced during the show and I will always remember that. The food was excellent, just like I remembered from the first time. I highly recommend it for any couple wanting to do something different for their anniversary. Can't wait to go again :)
We attended this attraction as a celebration for me getting a new job and my birthday. First and foremost this is not an event to take small children as there are real time battles, swordfights, and sometimes total darkness. What you will find here is a great time and a menu fit for a king! You enter this particular establishment through the Sugarloaf Mills Mall. Once you get to the entrance you will enter into out in the court area. The court has many interesting things from real animals, to gift and souvenir shops. it has a massive fireplace and a café style seating area in the front of that. They even have an area where you can see some of the medieval torture devices used to persuade folks to renounce their beliefs and see things the Catholic Churches way. Which brings me to my next point. If I haven't said this already, I would not recommend small children to come to this event. The dungeon as it was called, was an extra fee $2.00 per person to see what the torture elements were used. Some of these are pretty gruesome so if you have a sensitivity to that kind of thing I would avoid it. Some of the pre-show functions though are geared more toward older children ages 8+. You can get knighted by the King of the Castle and get a souvenir picture to cherish the memory. The price for everything was a bit high and they tend to charge for just about everything extra, but you can get many discounts over the course of the year. They will also attempt to woo you into parting with your hard earned money once you into the court area with the gift-shops and the mandatory picture you take with the King upon entering. The meal was grand though in every way! You start with a piece of bread and a tomato bisque that is divine! This is immediately followed by them filling your beverage of choice, Pepsi, sweet tea, water or coffee. They also keep this filled throughout the event. Next is a very flavorful half chicken then if that isn't filling enough they then bring you a BB-Q rib and half of a seasoned baked potato. While you are dinning, they start the entertainment. Much of this is done by pitting different area champions against others surrounding the arena. They continue until one champion rises victorious. During the course of these "games" there are swordfights, jousting, spear throwing and precision lancing. At around the midpoint of the show they bring dessert. The "pastry" of the castle is a delicious flaky apple turnover. If you opted for a birthday package, you got a small birthday cake piece. I actually did not opt for that package and am glad I didn't because with the exception of them announcing your name the cake piece was at most two bites. As the tournament comes to a close, the waiting staff (surfs and winches) present you with a type of "bill" folder where you can leave a tip. I unfortunately didn't think to bring additional cash but it is something you might want to consider since there are many things that require it. All in all I'd say this is a fun once in a lifetime experience. It is a place to go if you are looking to be entertained for the evening and get a good meal. The price was a bit high but all in all worth it.
I went to a special night at Medieval Times - DragonCon and it was so much fun. There was a preshow costume contest with over 100 contestants in costumes and one of the best was Iron Man. We thoroughly enjoyed the show and our serf Chris was incredible as he stayed in character and made jokes making the experience even better!! Thanks for the dragon toes and ears!!
I had a pretty good time at Medieval Times. You should know that you can only enter this location from the INSIDE of the mall. So don't waste your time parking near what appears to be the "entrance" of the castle. Moving on... I REALLY like the idea that all the employees are "in character" and call you "My Lord" and "My Lady, " even on the phone. The ticket procedure is a tad confusing but wan't a big deal. (we used Groupon, printed at home, but still had to go to the window.) We got there about 30 minutes before our dinner seating but I recommend getting there an hour before because there is plenty to do before eating. They have a bar where you can get drinks both adult and otherwise, a HUGE fireplace where you relax and drink, a large gift shop(s), actors and actress in full costume interacting with the crowd taking photos etc, entertainment: a Falconer with her live falcon, a large Owl, juggler/jester, knighting ceremonies, etc. As far as the show it as pretty good. You sit in a LARGE arena about twice as long as a basketball court. We were on the front row but I appeared that every seat is a good one. They divide the crowd into teams by color and you sit in section of the knight you will be cheering for. The show: It's a very colorful well-choroagraphed extravaganza with lots of horses, knights in armor, battles and competitions, all presented as a story. I'd say the production level is pretty high: on par with a travelling broadway/Disney show. The only drawback is, once the horses appear, it smells like horse poop in there. And the smell is pretty strong. But when the food comes out, It didn't bother me as much. As for the food -- not too shabby. You get bread, crazy-hot soup, a potato wedge, half a rotisserie chicken I think, one rib, and a pastry dessert. You also get two rounds of a beverage: soft drink, iced tea, or water. All the food was good by the chickens as especially good! Two things I didn't care: they don't give you silverware. You eat EVERYTHiNG with your hands. At first that bummed me out because I don't play that. I hate anything, wet, messy, sticky, etc. on my hands. It's just not cool with me. I'm a human -- I use flatware. But I made the smart decision to use only ONE hand and keep the other dry/clean with the ONE napkin they gave us. At the end of the dinner course they did at least give us wet wipe. Secondly, two rounds of drinks is not enough to wash all that food down. Especially in those small cups they use. For 30 bucks a head I'm thinking they can get away with unlimited soft drinks or at the very least unlimited iced tea. Long story short -- go, you'll have a good time, you'll probable leave with some food, and be sure to use some kind of discount. And don't forget to bring your own flatware or wet wipes.
