We visited this winery for a tasting as part of my bachelorette party in June and had so much fun! We went to another winery as well and none of us are generally big wine drinkers, but this place was the exception. We all prefer sweet wines and the Mooned Red and Mooned Rose are both AMAZING!
We discovered the whitemoon winery after we hit the Maker's Mark place. : ) It's not the typical kind of thing you expect when you think 'winery'. It's a pole barn looking place with a gravel parking lot. Kind of like a warehouse is what I thought of.... We stepped in and browsed a minute, before Alex (the owner) helped us. I will tell you though, she is so friendly and charming, we just loved her! She made us a little snack plate to accompany our wines. She told us her story about getting started, how the photos were chosen for the labels - how the little old man posed in the barrel! LOL. She told us about how the bottle wine and the process and how / where grapes are grown for her wines. That she tries to keep the grapes local. It was such a good, visit. We loved it because it was just Husband, me and Alex most of the time that we were there. There were a few people that danced in and out but we felt like we were her old friends and we were catching up on what she had been up to for the last 10 years that we'd been gone! We ended up buying six bottles of wine that day (when we had not intended to buy any! LOL) The plum is amazing! We considered coming back to the region JUST to participant in the big grape stomping event. Thank you for making our trip memorable, Ms. Alex and thanks for the fantastic wine. I think of you every time I pour a glass of it!
Interesting tasting. Purchased a couple of bottles, very good!Look in the magazine to clip the coupon for wine tasting and cheese.
We love taking the path less traveled and do wine trails etc. This place is truly one of our favs!! We recommend them to everyone. Just wish their wines were sold at our local liquor stores (dont think I havnt asked them to carry them LOL) Still trying that one
We stopped in on a Saturday afternoon expecting to do a little tasting, but what we got was so much more. The owner, Alex, was an amazingly friendly and energetic host. While we sipped her wines, she filled us with her story. Her passion for winemaking came through as she explained each wine to us. The tour was an added bonus! Thanks!! It's a must if you're in the area!
My husband and I visited there this past weekend and loved it. All of there wines were tasty. The owners were very friendly and welcoming. They serve their wine with local cheese and crackers. We purchased several bottles and even had one bottle shipped to my mom. We look forward to returning for their upcoming Lucille Ball smashing.
We really had a good time visiting WhiteMoon Winery this past Sunday. Great tasting and a very interesting tour of the winery. Highly recommend your stopping in to see and taste for yourself!
Absolutely loved this place. Don't let the small size surprise you, they've got a nice list of varieties to sample and each was better than the one before. Ended up taking home a case of everything and gift shop items as well. Look over in the back corner - see the slushy machine? There's wine in them spinners - you gotta try it. Fabulous.
Being from the area and living in the Heart of the Bourbon Trail, we decided we should also try out the KY Wine Trail. What a great experience we had at WhiteMoon. Not only did we taste fabulous wines, we had the undivided attention of Alex. A great Lady that knows her stuff. Her presentation at the wine tasting is something we had not experienced before. She offers local cheese and crackers with her tasting. You also get to keep your glass which is something only a few of the wineries offer. The views from her tasting room are to die for!We own a B&B in Lawrenceburg and are always sending Guest that direction for the distillery and cooperage. So glad that we found WhiteMoon and we will be giving all of our Guests headed that way a heads up! You can't go wrong here.
We visited White Moon Winery with a group of friends. We attended the Grape Stomp event. It was a fun time. We enjoyed a glass of wine, I liked the Chambourcin but the rest of the group liked the cab sauv. We got to stomp our own container of grapes. They had been frozen previously and were very chilly on the piggies! It was a unique experience. After stompin', we enjoyed a mini tour from the owner Alex. She was very friendly. We enjoyed a catered meal of BBQ, green beans, baked beans, loaded potatoes and peach cobbler. They also had bourbon balls which I don't typically like but they were yummy. We definitely had a great time!! We took home a couple bottles of wine and some great memories!
