Kids were not as interested as I was. They thought it was not exciting enough. I thought it relaxing!
Was only a 30 min. drive from home; and i had been wanting to go since before relocating to KY. Went with my niece, and hiked up to the white trail. I loved it, although the map is a bit confusing. Before we even made it to our starting trail (blue trail) we saw a deer (for the first time in our lives) and had enough time to snap a few pictures of it. I recommend it for the pro hiker and the beginner as well. It will take more than 3 trips to hike all the trails and see everything. There are many interesting things to see in the Nature Center too. Next time we'll hike to the Overlook from where you can see the Kentucky River, I believe it is.
We stopped here with only a few hours to spare. We swung by the information center and grabbed a map and got some advice on the trail. We really didn't have the right shoes on (trail shoes recommended versus every day tennis shoes). We hiked out to the KY River viewing point. You will definitely feel the burn on this hike, especially if you are in a rush. The scenery is beautiful along the any. The view when you get to the KY river is fantastic. We only went about a mile and a half each way.. I will look forward to doing the entire trail
Love this place. It's an oasis of nature in the middle of bland Lexington urban sprawl. Trails are well maintained.
The trails are well maintained and seldom crowded. There are different habitats to enjoy along with the residents of each. The only drawback is that no dogs are allowed. I think they would love it too.
A great place to go for an hour, a 1/2 day or all day. We visited the nature center and hike to the overlook by the creek, then back via the meadow, about 2 miles total and 1.5 hours for us. We took a break at the overlook to absorb the beauty. The overlook to the river was nice. Would like to go back in spring and summer. Only drawback: lots of invasive plants. Otherwise, nice trails and very nice nature center.
We stopped for a quick.hike and ended up hiking for 2 hours. Nice paved trail but more that are not - our type of nature preserve.
Raven's Run is tucked away in the most beautiful country of Lexington. It is not widely used which gives it such a great appreciation from people like me. There is at least 10 miles worth of hiking and great scenic views. Wildlife may even come out of nowhere so be on your toes! I appreciate that dogs and bikes are not allowed. It truly is a nature reserve and I love not having to avoid people's laziness to clean up after their pets.
My daughter and I explore here. One of my hobbies is photography, and there are great opportunities for lovely photos here with variations in lighting under the trees or in the sun. Stone fencing, streams, outlook over the Kentucky River, and wildlife. Great place to visit!
Wonderful hiking opportunities. Great tours offered to educate you on plant life and wild birds. Great views overlooking the Kentucky River and trails with waterfalls. Take a hike, and enjoy nature!
